Someone on another build thread on here (I can't remember who, annoyingly) was using random bits of scrap and metal tubes for forming really rather good dents in panels like the one you're trying to do. They basically used any solid shape that was about what they were after and a variety of hammers, it was really very clever stuff.

This is amazing work and inspirational to see what can be achieved.
But one thing that is driving me to distraction it's 'piece' not 'peace', unless you're the John Lennon of welding.

Bloody Nora, youβve got balls of steel! Great to see this old FG being resurrected. Have you done much welding and fabrication before? Your fab work looks better quality than some of the so-called βprofessionalsβ - very impressive results! Looking forward to the next update - bookmarked.

Thanks to everyone for there comments. I've welded bits and bobs as a hobby with a stick welder but this is a first for me I didn't think any think like making panels and body parts was possible without proper tools it was only when I started reading on this forum on the how to part and watching YouTube videos that made me have a go as before I started I tryed to get people to make the panels but no one I'd asked would do them so it just shows to give any think a try. just need to get my spelling right now pieces not "peaces" lol and its to nice of a afternoon to be cutting and welding so going to have a few beers and a bqqπ»

This is an excellent thread and your work is brilliant (Have to say my main recollection of one of these was driving one from Stoke to Glasgow and back, wearing ear defenders all the way at a max. speed of 50 mph !! That was a journey and a half lol.)

Picked another sheet of metal up this afternoon and started cutting floor panels out some odd shapes to these old trucks started putting grooves in one of the panels but going to need some dressing over need to try and make some thing solid to fit around the groove to acked as a dolly or if any one got any ideas much appreciated You're doing a really good job, for tidier lengths of indents use a length of 20 or 25mm solid bar, you only need a 150mm bit and move it as you go, for concave areas use a hessian bag packed with builders sand to sit the metal sheet on then bash to the required curvature.
