This is the baby version of what’s underneath mine. 30cwt vs 100cwt for the Noddy.
Good luck with it. Seeing the state of that cab makes me glad I’ve not got a metal one on mine!

Great progress, can't be easy with the lousy weather we've had lately, nice patio too. 😆

great work so far, bookmarked this
as you were fishing for welding advice, looking at the couple of pictures. when the weld looks like meteor strike (hollow in middle) and sandy texture its a lack of gas, regulator needs to go up allot. outdoor welding needs quite a bit of extra, if you are doing it right you will not see more than 5 or 6 minutes continuous welding on a halfords style disposable bottle

I think you are doing something wrong there mukka. I built my entire tray back landrover (cab closure, and box section bed) on probably 2 bottles, more than 12 minutes welding in all that I can assure you 😂

(outdoors you are looking at about 8-10 l/min based on argon/c02 mix) "continuous welding" = if you sellotaped the trigger down and left it going. hope this helps, mukka

I don't use Argon/co2 mix though, just co2, what difference that would make I don't know, I don't get on with argon on my Mig. I like the little bottles. Keeps the whole shebang easily transportable, I often run mine to and from work in my boot.

I've now got the 10 lt bottle and the supplier reckons that you get 8 hours continues welding as Darren said with being out side the gas needs to be turned higher but most of the welds I'm going to be doing is no more then a few seconds at a time been told this way you get less distortion and I don't burn threw as much.

Awesome. Should help you speed along with the epic job you are doing. Some great work going into this and an awesome save too, that cab is very far gone but top work bringing it back to life!

Started on the quarter window strip that comes from the roof down/front to side panel Got it cut out and tryed to make the new one but it turned out to be a disaster so gived up as a bad job and will try again tomorrow. I don't have much to add, just that I love it. Super-satisfying seeing fresh metal let in Keep it up.

At first that inner wheel arch looked a really peculiar shape. Then you realise it's the function that dictates its form, maximising the amount of cabin floor while keeping the truck at the height it is on the tall wheels, the bowtie shape allowing the wheels to turn fully. It's quite clever, really.
Incredible progress being made on this too with some very difficult shapes being constructed with what almost seems like considerable ease.
