GOt a car thats been stood 25 years. Tank looks like brand new from the outside (behind the seat tank) but inside is absolutely covered in sticky brown gloopy treacle that used to be petrol, (have looked with an endoscoppe) tried flushing a few times with petrol but its an expensive and ineffective waste of time. Petrol still coming out brown as soon as the car moves as the petrol shoshes about and takes more treacle. It has already seized 3 inlet valves and bent them as a result.
Can't get into the tank via sender or filler much because it has baffles in it.
i have hear of some place that pours in some kind of liner in the tank, but that seems more when the tank is rusty, and i am not sure i would trust that anyway. Just need somewhere that has some magic process for cleaning the tank.
My last resort would be to cut the top of the tank completely off and scrub the inside and weld it back on again but very time consuming and the slightest pinhole would mean fumes getting into the car.
