Whilst scraping the ice of my car my Trico ice scraper/squeegee broke! I was actually genuinely saddened by this. I bought this Trico ice scraper in the first Winter of my motoring career back in 1989. It has been in pretty much every car I've ever owned, and the other morning, while scraping the ice from my Trans Am it broke, cutting my finger in the process I might add! I know you're probably thinking, well, so what, get another scraper. To be honest I have other scrapers, and none of them have ever been as good as this one. I've even got scrapers that are similar looking to this one, but they don't perform as well. This one fits in my hand well, and is comfortable to use. But not only that the ice scraper bit really clears the window well, and quickly too. I don't have to make two or three passes to scrape the ice off where its missed bits. Likewise the rubber squeegee bit works well too. The rubber is soft and pliable and clears the condensation from the inside of the windows with ease. It is a really good tool, and I would go as far as to say that its the best ice scraper/squeegee that money could buy, and at £1.99 back in 1989, it reckon it's probably the best £1.99 I've ever spent! I doubt you can beat that for value for money! But sadly I don't think I'll be able to replace it with another Trico ice scraper/squeegee, as I've had a good look, and nowhere seems to sell an actual Trico one. Like I said, I can get something that looks similar, but they're not the same in either quality, or performance! So, I know it's a kind of odd request, does anyone know anywhere that sells the actual Trico scraper like this one? Or do Trico just make windscreen wipers now?

Just fix it Surely it can't be that hard to repair

You should send them a message.
See if they can locate you a NOS item!
But I would be glueing it back together lol

I feel your pain. I like my little gadgets that have been with me forever. But I see a very easy repair that will outlast your trico-ice-scraper-squeegee-thingy. I don't think glue alone will do it but a small (alloy?) rod that can be glued in would do it.

That gives away your age mate....I used cassette covers....
I even used a bit of a cassette tape cover to cover up a rusty hole I did found a few hours before an APK (MOT). I used that black tar stuff to hide my sins.

Just fix it Surely it can't be that hard to repair Seconded! I suggest using Q-Bond - it's a superglue but comes with a powder that you sprinkle over the area, drip some of the superglue onto it and it makes a very strong bond. I use it for all sorts of stuff. I might even be tempted to make a shaped metal splint or sleeve and screw / rivet it over the join. As they said on Robocop: "We can rebuild you!"

I've got one of those scrapers as well and agree nothing else is as good as this one.

How could you keep the bar code sticker on it? I even feel the urge to pick at my screen!

I share your pain - and thought I was actually weird as I was so attached to this thing! (also bought in 1989 I reckon). I'm kind of glad to find I'm not alone (in fact I found this thread by googling to see if I could find one anywhere online. No surprises it brought me to RR though!) Sadly I think she's too far gone for repair. Sorry, pistonpopper if this has dragged up sad memories from a couple of years ago...

Try plastic welding (the version with the little metal reinforcements). What have you got to lose?

Normal superglue and baking soda gives the same result.

I'm still using the one I bought my dad for xmas in 1980! It too broke but superglue came to the rescue 20 yrs ago. Never found anything else to have a rubber blade that was just the right stiffness without being too hard.
Seems crazy - that scraper is 41 yrs old!

I've had a black Trico one for more years than I care to remember, still in daily use today

Black is not a colour ! .... Its the absence of colour

This is my scraper. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My scraper is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my scraper is useless. Without my scraper, I am useless. I must scrape my scraper true. I must scrape straighter than my enemy who is trying to freeze my windscreen. I must scrape him before I get too chilly and give up.
