Ok, i am nearly sorted with all what i can manage with the mk2 Escort, engine spins, all lights/electrics work, however, the fuel rail is the wrong type, i need something compatible to work with the throttle bodies, anyone on here have a vast amount of experience who can either help or at least point me in the right direction? I can't find a way of securing the rail, pics to follow....

Hi,
They look like some motorbike types connected to a cut down stock manifold using some silicone connectors (can't quite tell from the pics). If that is the case however I would suggest a couple of mild steel or ally brackets from sheet bent to shape so you can bolt them to the inlet head studs with the manifold, they shouldn't need to be particularly strong as the clips will ensure the injectors can't escape the rail under pressure. Wouldn't bolt rail to the TB's themselves since if they are secured with silicone connectors they may not be solid to the position of the inlet part which is bolted to the head.
Cheers, Mike

Ask RetroWarwicK; he's done this on his Mini. OTOH, you could buy his car and get the fuel rail for free .

The problem i have is the bodies are from a GSXR (i think? ) the fuel rail is from an original vauxhall engine from the odd looking manifold they have, this fuel rail does not fit in any way shape or form, the fitment from the rail will not fit into the injectors connection wise so i need (possibly) a motorbike fuel rail for this?? The welding, wiring, fabrication (to a degree) i can handle, and maybe i am missing something very simple, but i need to get this B*sta*d Finished!

i have gsxr 1300/hayabusa TB's as they are splitable, including the fuel rail. as the port spacing is slightly wider on the redtop than the hayabusa TB's, I had some longer alloy tube turned up then clamped it all back to together.photo above is off ebay but basically what i have. as the injector bosses are plastic, i just tapped in some brass hose barbs at each end and run a standalone fuel pressure regulator.

ah ok, so you are using a cut down redtop inlet manifold so the TB's are clamped to the stubs.....hence why you still have the vauxhall fuel rail. Are the TB's mounted upside down. Do they have injector ports? Edit: Coincidentally, I've just dug this out which is a redtop inlet modified to fit into a mini. As you can see the inlet runners have a couple of bosses to allow the fuel rail to be clamped on. I think yours has lost those when they cut the runners down. This inlet won't fit your installation unless you get the TB fitted on the other end of the plenum.

I am going to get a few more pics without the fuel rail in the pic, I see what you mean regarding the bosses, i did think that would it be far simpler to just get the GSXR fuel rail, but this i guess would be too simple! or as you have said, toil with the tubing idea and modify it to fit. I appreciate the help guy's.

This is all i have, now apart from my mind, what else would you suggest? (i know Psychological input may be needed, but not right now!)

Any reason why you can't flip the TB's over. They look upside down. Then buy a used fuel rail to modify.

I'm guessing here but those tb's are probably gsxr600, which is why they haven't been able to use the fuel rail (as its a one piece affair).

nothing wrong with running the bodies upside down, in many cases its advantageous, I would get rid of the silicone hoses though, get a flange welded on and seal them with 0-rings and bolt them down solidly.
you also need some trumpets.
everyone needs trumpets!

Well, I spoke to SBD and they said that these have def' been cut down, and a very shoddy job too, i bought these via ebay from some lying curse word who said they were def' GSXR 1000 cc and were removed from a running engine, unfortunately even the archived messages do not go far enough back, and SBD also said that for the build of the engine (which i know is legit) the carbs do look a tad too small/restrictive, so, once again, it looks as though i am going to have to look for another set! I can't do with messing around especially since this has been too long in the making,so, i am going to look for a complete set of 1000cc throttle bodies complete with all necessary parts to bolt on! i have seen a complete set up, but they are asking in excess of £600, i have the microsquirt set up, i have the crank sensor in place, fuel tank and pump and lines are all ready to go, i will continue with the spraying and fitting of the interior plus all the other parts bumpers, number plate lights, seat belts blah blah blah and if it means waiting for the right TB's, i guess i will wait! so! anyone out there with what i need for a redtop 2litre, high performance cams and head, high compression was running 275bhp on 4 psi, so hoping to reach at least 230/240 with the rest of the set up. Thanks again guy's, Voodoo57!
