ok, the availability of wheels for the spitfire is quite limited. the pcd is also the same for mgf's who also have a limited wheel option. one of the mgf specialists has produced a pcd adaptor that allows a range of wheels with different pcd's to be fitted and I might get a set. I also have a set of mini 7x13's (175/50/13's) with tyres going spare in the garage that should give the spit a nice bit of stretch. now, the standard offset is +0.5" (12mm?), the mini is (i think) -21mm. the width of the adaptor is 18mm. do I have an offset problem as I can't get my head around offsets ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) or should just wack em on - ther're gonna be qwide so a bit of arch widening will be required

I'm not the best person to ask on this, but I thought I could offer some insight.
They'll bosh on fine, but you may get some bump steer when driving.
It's really dependent on how wide the new wheels are and where the centreline of the new wheel is in relation to the old one and its offset. How much difference in width are we talking? You may be able to wing it, I assume there's a lot if you're talking about bubble arches.
No doubt some more qualified people will put you right on that but there's something for an opener.

I had the same problem when I was looking for wheels for the Sprintfire. I machined my own adapters to convert to Vauxhall Nova 4 x 100mm pcd with a 52 mm offset. Loads of room for the correct thickness adapter and a huge choice from the chav mobile range of wheels. I settled on 15" x 7" Dymag 5 spokes. No issues with handling or flex as proved at Mallory!! I knew I should've copyrighted the idea. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

You -can- get some nice wheels for MGF fitment. But if it's like a dolomite , you'll still have to do some mods to make the wheels fit, as the studs won't be long enough.
Alternatively, keep your eyes peeled for FORMULA FORD wheels - the ford bit is a misnomer here as they ran 3.75in pcd hubs. This applies particularly if you want to keep a small diameter rim. And sweet-talk Seth, Herald rimmage guru! ;D

those mgf adaptors, are they the type with the studs that slide in and out for drffrent pcd's? if so you must get wheels that have the correct centre hole so you can centre them, wheels not being centred in some way can be dangerous. fixed stud adaptors are fine as the tapered nuts will center the wheels. rover metro studs fit into the hubs and take 12.5 mm nuts and have two diffrent lengths, rears are 1" longer with the correct spacers maestro, montego, mgf alloys will fit with there original nuts. the formula ford wheels are dunlop items and were fitted to gt6's IIRC and are the same as spitfire ones but 5 1/2" wide. hope my rambling is of help

There should be plenty of options before you resort to spacers.
MGF, Montego, Maestro, K series Metro/Rover 100, Marina, Ital, Lotus, Dolomite, Spitfire, GT6 and loads of kit/race cars use 3.75" PCD. I'm not saying they are all direct bolt on jobbies, but the stud pattern is the same.

well, i have currently got a set of the GT6/formula ford wheels which are 5.5x13. they have got a nice bit of dish but as they are only 5.5's, i can't get a low profile and a bit of stretch - the best i can get is 165/55 or 155/65 (its the look you know ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ). thats why i thought of the wheel adaptors so i could get relatively cheaply some 7x13's with a nice 175/50/13 stretch (or use my mini ones). i want to get the RR look but on the spitty as its never really been done before

There were some 6x13 and 8x13's Weller motorsport rims on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. I was severely tempted to see what could be done to go with the 5.5's I've got for the Herald. Each pair went for about £25 I think....

do you need to change the wheels? my yellow 1500 spitty ran matt black standard wheels set up with short springs and neg camber it looked the business.IMO they look cool with the wheels they have if you set them up right. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v649/liutk/RR07/DSC02185.jpg) though these are cool so maybe you are right to be looking...
