Having seen the wonderful and varied threads on here of garden tractors, rotorvators and other interesting machinery I was wondering if you would be interested in our family's? To cut a long story short alot of this machinery has been in my wife's family for a very long time (some of it was bought new by her family). My father-in-law has suddenly, over the last 6 months, decided to sell pretty much everything that he had (he's a retried dairy farmer). I'm not sure why - perhaps he's bored of working on things in the garage where it's cold etc - catches up with all of us in the end perhaps.
So - he's sold something like 6 Allis Chalmers (D40's and 42's etc), all the implements that he had for them too and he's gradually thinned out all the garden machinery he's accumulated too. He hasn't sold that lot though - he's given it to my son (whom is farming mad, likes anything with an engine and wheels). Two weeks ago we went across to his house to pick up the first batch of machines, boxes of parts and implements.
The plan is to choose 3 machines and their attachments, to get back into working/useable condition and take them to local farmers shows (there are myriad to choose from here in pembs during the summer).
There are plenty of Allen scythes (in various guises) but there are also some other really interesting ones too - particularly an early French one (on iron spiked wheels). I've uploaded a couple of photos of the day we started bringing the things across to ours plus Rhodri starting to give everything a quick brush-off (cobwebs etc).
I've bought some industrial shelving to try and keep track of all the implement attachments and parts - he gave us spare J engines, gearboxes, engine covers, tin work, implements (snow ploughs, cutter bars, wheels etc etc.
Having some difficulty uploading pictures at the moment so bare with me!
