I'm guessing it probably wasn't me. My patch is noticeable if you're quite close to the car but it's actually almost the same colour as the car and only protrudes about 1mm. I don't think I drove it down that way before I'd covered the metal and bolted it down a bit more firmly... so there must be another Scim with a homebrew sunroof delete in the neighbourhood. I'll have to keep my eyes out for it.
There is a slim chance you saw my car before I took the sunroof out because the sunroof jutted out about an inch from the roof line... but it sounds like you're quite certain it was patch not a sunroof.
I've decided to take the plunge and have a go at laying in some fibreglass on mine. Having watched a few boat hull repair videos and got the gist of how to do it I actually think it's probably going to be relatively easy to get a decent finish.
I have always assumed you lay in oversized strips of maybe 1" width that have to criss-cross each other and therefore it will all get very lumpy and messy with ragged edges protruding everywhere.
Turns out you cut the sheets dry to accurately match the shape that needs filling, as single pieces not strips, and then just use the liquid stuff pretty much like adhesive gum to build it all up. I never knew!
Now waiting for warmer weather so it will cure properly, and I'll have at it.
