Hi all.
I currently have a 1994 pug 205 diesel mardi gras in superb nick, which I use for my daily commute. I have just purchased some 1.9 gti 15" alloys with 195/45/15 tyres fitted.I'm now worried that they may be a little big for the car and rub on the arches, anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? Cheers Giner

From memory the fronts are OK. The rear *may* give issues, but there is one at work on 1.9 GTi wheels.
The subframe bushes will also play a part here. Going to Group A mounts can help eliminate this problem or at the very least Group N Hard Rubber beam mounts.

I had the same wheel and tyres on my XS (same body as yours) and found that they will rub with more than one person in the rear. Some people say they don't rub.....French tolerances I guess!

I saw the one in the car park today. With no weight in the back or lowering you should be OK. Anything more then you'll run into a problem. boldys2k tyre side profiles can play in this. Some times have loads of rim protection, others have less than a Pirelli condom. Falkens tend to be the latter. You are however restricting yourself on tyre tyre on a car known for lift-off oversteer even in the smaller engined varieties.

standard tyre was a 185 55, so may well be worth tracking some down as they will fit in the arch a bit better, but even then the 15" wheel and tyre is a it big for the non gti/rallye cut away arches.

Could always try 175/50/15 I had 16x6.5's with 195/45/16 on my lowered Rallye and they did rub a fair amount.
Managed to massage the arches and bumper to make it drivable but you couldn't take anyone in the back.

Still waiting for new wheel bolts to arrive,so haven't had chance to fit them yet. They are on 195 45 15 tyres and came off a rallye.
