After getting intouch with a previous owner of my 2001 Seat Inca van he informed that it went through driveshafts pretty quickly. It has at the minute possibly happened again so something must be causing this. It’s lowered but so far heard no stories from other owners who have had similar problems.
Any ideas?

You say lowered, how lowered is it? I've read about a few vag group cars being silly low and eating driveshafts.

Drive shafts can bottom out length ways on lowered cars especially with any play in engine and gearbox mounts.

Not that I know of and no evidence on inner wings

That doesnt look low enough to cause any problem with shafts bottoming out. Is it always the same side that fails?

What fails? Inner or outer CV?

Inner or outers? I dogged my Inca for about 7 years, I don't think I replaced any cv joints.

Wonder was the rack ever changed and you're getting too much lock?

check for play on the splines between the shaft and the cv joint yoke, if there is enough wear and play there it can sound like a failing cv joint, you can put thread lock compound on the splines to fix it but it is tricky to keep it grease free for the thread lock.

most likely flaky rebuilds.
There are big industrial operations for rebuilding driveshafts for curse word cars like the SEAT Inca. In my experience it was Citroen Saxo. Same difference.
You put them in, they last for a bit. End of story.

Has the van ever been in a shunt? Accident damage is not unknown to put the front subframe / steering rack out of line and cause it to eat driveshafts like you describe.

Measure how much plunge is left. I used to munch shafts regularly on track, turns out they were slightly too short so did not operate in the correct range on the inner CV.

cheap driveshafts combined with worn suspension or subframe bushes and possibly steering bumpstops could all contribute to it How has it been lowered?
