Hi, I’ve been in to old cars and bikes since before I can remember but prices of classic cars have increased so much I’ve been squeezed out of the market, in the past I’ve restored 2 MK1 RS2000’s and various original Mini Cooper’s, but I’d need a lottery win nowadays lol . by chance a trade customer at the garage I work at asked if I would be interested in a golf vr6, he had owned it 15 years and only 1 owner before him and it has only covered a genuine 75k! So I thought I’d take a look, it turns out it was always a local car and the original owner was a customer at my old garage, so I’ve known the car from new,I was pleasantly surprised by how good ithe car is now and how totally original it is, it’s mint underneath having been liberally doused in waxoyl, so no welding needed👍 It hasn’t turned a wheel in 8 years so the fuel pump has called it a day and lots of other bits and bobs need attention but I’m really excited to have stumbled across such a great car, they are getting rare now, most have been cannibalised for mk2 conversions. My plan is to take it back to being as good as it was in 1992, so please watch this space! I will get some more pics up soon of the rest of the car👍

Tbh I hardly ever see them for sale and if I do they are in terrible condition. Only 75k and low owners might make it possibly one if the best left once you restore it.

Looks like a belter, look forward to seeing how this progresses. It'll be an early distributor engine is it?

Is that an RD 250 or a 400 👍 It’s a 400, it was taken about 30 years ago and ironically the cars in the picture are now retro rides👍

Oooooh, looks like a nice solid survivor. Get some Aerospace 303 on those plastics and I bet they'll look like new! If the 303 doesn't last long hit them with Gyeon prep and trim (bit more pricey though).

That looks great! You very rarely see a clean and original mk3 VR6, even at VW shows. They've all either given their engine to a mk1 or mk2, or been heavily modified. I think this is actually quite special, and undoubtedly a future classic.

I’ve had 4 MK3s, 3 ‘97s and a ‘94 - One ‘97 was so rotten in 2011 the shock came though the back strut tower. It had been repaired with bits of old washing machine whe the floor pan rotted. What changed in the ‘95 so-called facelift?!

What changed in the ‘95 so-called facelifts most of the vw range at that time were bad for corrosion, I’m am MOT tester and Polo’s and Golf’s around then were rerrible, allegedly they sourced a cheaper supply of steel and it was below par.
