This may be a daft question, but will a fuel pump work with water? Or is the viscosity of the liquid a problem?
The reason I ask is that I need to clear a big puddle of water and the only 'pumpy' thing I have to hand is an old fuel pump. I was wondering if I could rig it up to do the job?
Any thoughts, gentlemen?

Once it's finished pumping the water spray some WD40 through it and it will be fine. We use mini SU pumps to empty the coolant on the machines at work.
