Remember back in 2016 when Billing said they wouldn't be holding cars shows again at their venue? And all us Vauxhall fanatics had to relocate to Market Harborough show ground in 2017 for our annual VBOA weekender? Well it looks like Billing have had a rethink on cars shows for this year as their website is promoting a couple of events. Namely a couple of A.A.C.I. meets, in april and june and...VAUXFEST! in September... VAUXFESTSo, Billing is hosting an all vauxhall event, not sure on their thinking here but as far as I know, none of the Vauxhall car clubs I'm in know anything about it, no one has said anything about it, and you'd've thought that the VBOA would know something wouldn't you? Also I think someone in their 'art department' has done a whoopsy with the old 'clip art', as their nice blue Vauxfest emblem seems to have a silouette of a Capri on it an 'own goal' there I think

Sounds like they feel they can make more from it if they organise it themselves. Have there been problems with the show in the past ?

The aquadrome is a hellish place for shows.
It was a popular venue for land rover shows, but the experience of attending was pretty naff.
A lot of 'tinkers' visit the site overnight and help themselves to whatever they like.
I was pleased to see it die as a venue and see shows move to better locations.

As above. i reckon there's more stuff gone missing at billing than any other venue, even the pod.
Who wants to go to a show where you're constantly having to watch your back or someone nicks your cars/parts/stuff?
The place is a sh-thole, let it rot and go somewhere else. It's not like there's a shortage of shows these days.

Have there been problems with the show in the past ? yep, for the last 10 years. kicking us out for 2017 was the tip of a very large berg and all of the problems were caused by the owner of billing aquadrome or northampton borough council historically sad to part with billing, but practically we were better off at M.H. the worst bit about billing for me were the floods, and also tyler, kai his cousins jayden-leigh and alfie kerb crawling round the site at 3am in their transit tipper

My understanding was that they appointed new management who decided car shows were out, then had cold feet, got rid of them and got new ones in, and are now trying to get them back. I think that logo is on quite a few of their potential shows, but as with any show, it'll succeed or fail based on how many people go. I don't particularly like it as a venue, others love I and will make a long weekend of it. I didn't get to MH so I can't compare it to that. MH is a little closer for me, so that's a good thing.

I guess any show that raises the profile of the Vauxhall range is a good thing but I think they will struggle unless they get the backing of the clubs & parts suppliers which I doubt!

They have now changed the emblem to a griffin, someone must've tipped them off As people have said, Billing was a pretty awful venue, I've been going to the VBOA on and off since '96. In that time i've seen a bedford rascal that had been pushed into the river, cars upside down after having been driven round the site by idiots ( not vaux peeps) various thefts and vandalism and have been flooded out and evacuated in the middle of the night to name but a few. But it was 'Billing', the home of our great show, we knew it was curse word and smelled like a toilet, but we still went and complained about it as usual every year. MH was not without it's flaws, but hopefully it will be much better this year....the 'new' Billing show? I'll check it out.... but if the VBOA don't back it I doubt it'll be much more than new metal with flashy paint and bodykits. All right for some but not my cup of tea.

Was it that bad? I always meant to go but something always came up, was a bit gutted when it moved. I know one guy on a Vectra forum had his polished oil cap nicked, someone had to bring him one up to move the car

MH has much more potential and they have taken all the suggested improvements on board so should be even better this year.

I know one guy on a Vectra forum had his polished oil cap nicked, someone had to bring him one up to move the car I didn't feel it was all that bad in those terms. I never liked it as a venue, and if I went, it would only be for a single day, so if most of the trouble was overnight then I'd have fortunately missed it. I guess it was quite conveniently located, as was demonstrated during the search for a replacement venue.

Personally I've had some great times at the NSRA Fun Runs over the years but I can't see it ever getting a lot back now, probably destined to be a housing estate as it was a bit Carry on Camping towards the end. My only gripe was the Fun Run got moved to Great Yarmouth, probably one of the most inaccessible places in England.
