Spot the difference? I picked up some Teledials the other day. 16X7 as opposed to the 15X6 that are currently on. Very similar graphite hue though. In another post I queried whether these would fit/were genuine. I can confirm they are genuine 928 Teledials so the offset will be et65. These should fit just fine, maybe with a small spacer on the front to stop the barrel catching on the strut and on the rear to keep a square track. It may be a while before I fit tyres (most likely Uniroyal Rainsport3's as I've had great experiences on my mk2 golfs/350z) as on the return journey from the North East the steering judder got worse and I think the balance shaft is leaking oil from the rear face. I have read a post on the UJ on the steering shaft moving up/down may be the judder culprit so I'll need to fully digest this before attempting. - Always best to fix a car before making it look nice!

After just over a month of being off the road the 924s is back in action!
I decided to tackle the belts as a preventative measure due to the PO's limited yearly milage and the dread of an interference engine going wrong, and also take the 'two birds one stone' approach and investigate the steering judder which I was quite aware could grow legs once started.
Jobs completed
New timing and balance shaft belts (Continental) New Auxiliary belt (Continental) New power steering pump belt (Continental) New front end seals installed New post 87 water pump (German made from Frazer Parts) New belt gaurd installed New thermostat and seal New fuel filter (Mahle) New fuel pump and filter rubber bobbins New lower steering shaft (Woolies Workshop) New needle bearings for steering shaft New firewall bearing sleeve (2nd hand as seems to be NLA!)
Issues faced along the way
Snapped bolts The first issue faced was two bolts below the water pump snapping due to corrosion along the thread. With so little face left these had to be extracted by a local engineering firm.
86 water pump NLA Being an early low miles car, I was still running the original water pump, (Max @ FP informs me these have not been produced for a very long time!) so a 87 water pump had to be fitted. The differences being two extra lugs for the belt guard and a different sized pulley to install. - also causing the below problem..
86 timing belt covers no longer fit The rear early plastic timing belt covers are much more substantial than later cars and after a bit of head scratching, a very helpful call to Max the 86 plastic was measured and trimmed to match the 87 onwards plastics.
Sheer bolts A known frustration to many! - I found an air powered die grinder to make short work of them (although this wasn't the first method tried! :bang: )
Issues that have fixed themselves during this time are a flickering speedo light which is now bright and constant, the feeble horn which was just a spade connector that needed a clean, and my passenger washer jets have now decided they want to be useful!
The ups and downs of classic car ownership! Now the bills are paid and the car cleaned the stress seems like a distant memory!
Off to Retro Rides show tomorrow. Pictures to follow.

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!
