Happy New Year fellow RetroRiders!
I am having to down size on my collection due to a new job and less time to spend on them.

First to go is my Jaguar XJ40:
Jaguar XJ40 XJ6 3.6 Automatic
1989 'F' Registration - Rare Digital Dash Model
Regency Red with Oatmeal Leather
MOT until April 2018
86k Miles with Service History
To be clear from the offset, this is a project car. It runs and drives, and has a valid MOT until April this year (not currently taxed), but the interior is very damp due to the sunroof seal leaking and letting water in.
The interior and carpets are damp, there is mould in places, and the car doesn't smell very pleasant due to this. The interior will need fully drying out and a full valet (perhaps restoring) to bring back to former glory. Worst case, just swap the interior over from a set on eBay.
Headlining is sagging (common XJ trait).
On the positive side, seems to be ok mechanically, but hasn't been used for a while, so would benefit form a full service and general health check. Battery is weak and will need a jump / replacing.
The 3.6 Litre 'AJ6' engines are pretty much bullet proof if maintained correctly, and with this low mileage has plenty of life left.
It has the rare digital dash, which all appears to function (apart from when it decides to have its usual wobble, then you can play an old 80s computer game with it!).
The bodywork is vey clean for an XJ40, with minimal rust from what I can see. Will need a good wash and polish to spruce it up.
These XJ40s are becoming increasingly rare, especially ones that are not total rot boxes. My plan was to slowly restore over the winter and use it as a wedding car in the summer months (nothing oozes wedding class quite like on old XJ!).
I reckon spend a little on this, get the interior sorted and the service done, a few other little bits and pieces, and you will have yourself a clean sure fire future classic. This still glides like an old Jag should, and in my opinion, has a better ride quality than a W126 Mercedes.
Try finding another XJ40 with this low mileage for less than £3k....
It is currently at my parent's place in Wellingborough, Northants, NN8. Can be driven away if taxed, but to be honest, the dampness might put you off, so recovery would be recommended.
My number is 07984 395400.
I am working away in Newcastle this week and won't get a chance to take photos until after the weekend. Will upload as soon as I get some.
** E30 318is Coupe in Alpine White will possibly be for sale in a few months as well as my E39 M5 in Silverstone Blue (trying to find ways to keep them at present!). **
