OK, so I'm doing a readers rides thread on my latest curse word project. A 5 door retro J daily with some go. I have already started stripping the ST202 celica with the REV3 3S-GE. and now I'm torn between what late 80s early 90s 5 door Toyota to put it in.
Carina II (also Corona) T170
Pro:
ST162 Celica chassis, should swallow 3SGE with ease.
Its a bit larger.
Cons:
Hard to come by.
Unknown chassis really even ST162 bits are hard to get.
Slightly heavier.
Corolla Liftback AE92 (Also Sprinter Celio)
Pros:
Lighter
Easier to come by
Off the shelf chassis upgrades thanks to the AE92 levin coupe
Cons:
I don't think the 3SGE will fit very well. It takes up a load of space.
This is a major con as I have only found one build where a guy put a redtop Beams into an AE92 coupe and he had a ball ache with the fitment and it didn't quite clear the firewall.
Can anyone shed any light on the corollas ability to swallow the 3SGE? as right now I'm lilting towards the Carina just because it can swallow the engine easily.
