After seeing lots of fantastic cars being built on here was wondering where you guys are building them all. Here´s mine for a starter...... .normally end up working in front of the garage if its not raining...! But after 20 Years of lying in the gutter changing exhausts i finally found a decent house a couple of years ago with a garage...luxury!

Well.... theres actually not much space in there so the majority of the work happens on the driveway!

Here's one of mine ---> That's my 'spare' garage though, at my new house, I've only got a single, but plans have been approved by the council for a HUGE garage.... 42x16 feet....

curse word pics, but you get the idea... This was my old workshop in Aberdeen. It was an old farm building and could take 4 cars in this bit with enough room around them to do simple jobs on. There was another section about the same size but with no door big enough to get a car through which was storage and workshop type space. Over here I have a big-ass barn to work in, but one end is pretty much open to the elements and I'm not 100% sure the wood floor is strong enough to take a car. Its got all the tools etc in it just now. The last owner said he was confident putting a tractor on the floor, but I'm not so sure, there are areas I can feel saging under my feet when I walk! All car stuff therefor has to be done outside until I can strengthen the floor somehow.

My garage at the bottom of the garden. Its currently a tip, as this is my on going project taking up the space. Not quite a double garage but long enough to do this and have a decent work bench as well.

I still live with my folks (obviously) and their garage is stuffed full of rubbish, so the cars live on the driveway.
As I am not satisfied with how houses are designed, I have been seriously considering getting a plot of land and having an architect design a house for me. It would basically be a decent-sized plot of land out in the sticks somewhere (room for expansion and outdoor storage) and the entire bottom floor would just be a great big garage with a massive shutter on the front. The house would be a modest bungalow stuck on top of it and it would all be done in a very minimalist way because I'm not really bothered what houses look like. And it would have great big walls so no one could see inside, then I could just buy all the £200 J-sheds off eBay and shove them all in my garden and no one would moan.
It would be purpose-built tat storage.

That sounds like my kind of house Hirst I would love to buy an old MOT station or garage and convert it into a house but leave all the inspection pits and ramps etc in it

Aye, a friend of mine bought a small warehouse for not very much money a good few years back. he put in a mezzanine floor and built a 2-bedroom flat up there, keeping the downstairs space as a huge workshop (he is into woodworking) Its worth an absolute fortune nowadays as its in a pretty central location in the city. Seemingly it was a complete nightmare for planning permission, rebanding to habitable from commercial property, fire laws etc etc, but he is laughing now.

My massive garage: With the back end of the van touching the rear wall, the garage door is less than an inch from the front of the van when it is being closed. Loads of room down the side of the van too: I don't have a workshop either. One of my cars has to live outside.

The first thing I look for when I buy a house is how many garages it has, or like the house I sold before moving to the UK, what potential it has. The single garage was easy to convert into a 7 car with a few bits of wall, a gable, and custom built door. Problem is that in SA cars are so expensive, and because you only do MOT/COR on change of registration/ownership, most people really do drive them till they die, and there is not much rust as the weather ranges between temperate and hot.
Sorry Streetrules and Pog for triggering tears !!!
