I hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not please move it Mods..
I have asked a few question in the questions section, but as I have found a way of doing it I thought I'd post it up to help any Almera SVE owners.
This isn't a full on "How To" guide, it's more of a "showing you how I got around the problem" sort of thing.
The big problem with fitting an aftermarket radio in a SVE is what's there already!
The DVD rom is for the sat nav, it also powers the screen you need to see what's going on with the heater controls etc.
The CD rom is for logically enough playing cd's, I think the radio bit is built in to it as well..
To fit a aftermarket radio you need somewhere to put it..
If the DVD Rom is unplugged the screen does not work!
If you unplug the CD Rom the screen will work but the heater/sat nav/radio/air con controls do not work!
All of which leaves you with nowhere to fit an aftermarket radio!
Unless somewhere can be found to move the built in CD Rom
There is no space under the dashboard, so I had to look else where..
The perfect and only place that I could find was under the center console just in front of the gear stick, close enough to still be able to plug the CD Rom in and keep everything working as it should..
The hole where the CD Rom used to live needs a bit of reshaping to fit an aftermarket radio as the hole isn't rectangular but it's easy to do.
Taa Daa, JVC radio fitted
As for the wiring, after checking the colours of the wires on all four speakers and finding they didn't match anything that actually plugs into the CD Rom/DVD Rom I decided the best way of doing things was to start fresh and do a complete seperate wiring install.
While I was at it I also upgraded the front door speakers and installed a pair of Alpine 6 x 9's on the parcel shelf...
I hope this helps other Nissan Almera SVE owners.
