I was thinking that it was about time we had a thread for Tonkas and other pressed steel cars and trucks! I don't really collect them, I tend to buy them, photograph them, and then set them free again! They're just too damn big for me to collect! I like the playworn stuff rather than the new stuff because I think it has more caracter. Anyway, heres one I've just collected from the tip! Anyone else into Tonkas?

I collect Nylint trucks, they are similar to Tonka but where made in Rockford, Illinois and originally were licensed trucks. At some point they became generic castings but one I grew up with that reminded me of my dad’s truck is why I went searching for the pickup I own today. The yellow one is what we had as kids that my parents must have tossed at some point. It was redound on eBay with those others behind it for $22 (not the semi, it was a gift when I worked for Bandag for ten years or so). And my current truck:

I collected Nylint as well when I was a kid, still got a few semi truck and trailers packed away, have to dig them out sometime. I like big metal toys, got 2 1/16 tin Ertl General Lees that i had as a kid, the abuse they took was criminal, same with my A Team van

All this talk of Tonka means I've now won this on eBay, my grandad bought me one exactly the same as a nipper but it got stolen with a load of other Tonka toys from his shed want the articulated Tonka wagon next, that was another victim of theft

I have a couple of Tonka toys in my parent's loft. I used to love them when I was a kid!

Few pics of what we have up to now, orange crane was mine when I was a kid, as was the beetle that has a million coats of paint on  that's going to get stripped and a coat of gloss black. The blue truck i got cheap as I had one of them when I was a boy, and the jeep as purchased earlier. There's a dump truck on its way along with a proper rusty pick up, got home from work to find my 5 year old daughter having a good time playing with them all so makes it worthwhile, she will never break them

Couple more have arrived today, the pick up is huge, daughter has claimed that as it's like the one that rises from the sand pit and chases Sid in the first Toy Story

This is kicking around the playroom. It belong to the kids but I was partially tempted to RC it... They thought that was a good idea but then I got my Bigfoot.

Yep, it's pretty rough. It belongs to one of my mates, and he paid way too much for it at a car boot sale, but he said he'd never seen one before, and had to have it. It sits proudly on display in his living room. It's the only one I've ever seen, except for a brand new one in Beaulieu motor museum, and its still in its box!
