;D It's show'n'tell time I picked up the Camero and the Gremlin late last summer for 50p each at a local boot sale and they have been on display in my dining room ever since, the sky rider cost me just £1 on wednesday from a charity shop window.I'd had the cars as a child and couldn't walk past them for that kind of money, the 'sky rider' was just too cool and stopped me in my tracks when I clocked it in the window.the best part is they all work just like new!! Tonka toys, those of us of a certain age grew up with them, others may have been shown them by Dad or maybe even Grandad.they were the best toys ever because they reflected the times, were made of metal and came with a big motor or were just plain big. checkout these ads, I still have my original big yellow truck in the loft along with a collection of other Tonka vehicles mainly because they were just about the only toys I couldn't break! What have you got in your Tonka garage?

I remember having one of the big yellow trucks, I destroyed it though as I was told it was indistructable - I never have been one to listen to my parents. To be fair, they were wrong lol.

I'm reviving this thread, even if only for a brief period as I just collected a bunch of my old Tonkas from my folks house. As said in another toy thread, they are a barn find as my folks house is called the barn, they also have patina . There were some notable exceptions, the monster dumper truck that we wrecked riding it down hills like a go kart, the big earth shifter, I found an army jeep but it was bent, a lot, in the middle, I feel it may have been used as some sort of rollerskate...ahem, anyway, here they are. The diddy one Can you tell my Dad was in construction Phone company truck Cool pickup truck, I think there used to be a trailer with a boat on it. Bit of the front missing and the hook, otherwise quite neat. Like the one in a reply above but still with it's Tonka logo'd crate to lift One of my faves, I reckon there was probably something on the back but it looks cool as a pickup. And last of all, this articulated car carrier is so freakin cool and it even still has the two metal ramps for loading cars on!!! As with the matchbox cars, I may get rid of these, my wife will definitely want me to get rid of these (she hasn't seen them yet)

Just had a quick eBay and even the smart var transporters haven't got the load ramps. Sweet. And I have patina.

I had one which was like a small truck with a trailer, but it wasn't a tipper instead it had a hatch in the middle to drop stuff out. I can't find a photo

Oh memories both good & bad.
The good... The earth mover/tipper on the 2nd vid in post 1 I had when I was a kid, Mid 70's I remember sitting on the radiogram with one on my lap & having pictures taken.
The bad..
Finding out when I was much older, infact old enough the get the p took out of me that my mother had numerous copies of said photo made & handed them out like a free newspaper..
I will try & get hold of one.
