Pete is correct. I mentioned this on one thread long ago. The floro tubes in Chris's workshop may have changed the entire visible colour of the paint (if the photos were taken with available light) and many body shops will fit true daylight balanced tubes for colour matching. The colour of standard tubes is a sort of yucky turquoise (know in the photographic trade as flu tube blue). I had work done for a rear end shunt, by a pro bodyshop. The colour was matched in the workshop but under daylight was dire. There is also the setting of colour balance on Chris's camera and, of course the monitor its viewed on. So.. after all the speculation, we now have to wait until the Corsair meets the great outdoors!!! Of course electronic flash will also reveal Pete's true colour. They are daylight spec tubes that I have in the workshop but the diffusers are now filthy with paint - I plan on changing these over summer to LED battens - just need to find the time or do a trade with 'Johnthesparky' in exchange for some paintwork

Panda Car Blue! I knew it rang a bell. It changes shade in different light, sometimes greenish, sometimes blue. Great choice.

Ah yes, but.... what colour are the diffusers as they will colour the light?
Now.... shall we start again guessing what colour paint is on the diffusers??? Please Nnnoooooo!!!

I saw those pics and a word popped into my head that I hate.
Lush.
But it is.

That looks lovely!
I’m wondering how you get it back to Pete though? Are you going to fit it to dollies, or just lift it really really carefully?
And I’m guessing you’ll need to leave it a little while before doing anything with it as the paint is still soft, or is that not the case anymore (or even at all)?

Just washed the Blazer for a potential buyer viewing tomorrow afternoon.
And it looks so much better clean.
Now reading this update and just smiling as always.
As you say, prep prep prep and prep some more.
Then make sure you prepped enough and start.
This is looking so incredibly good now Chris and like all of us watching car crash telly, your progress and results are absolutely addictive.
I suspect this has a chance of winning a prize at a local farmers show or two. 😉
What more can one say to show admiration?

John - Rear axle is still fitted so that just requires the wheels refitting and there is a wheeled dolly for the front end that bolts up to the crossmember mountings on the underside of the chassis legs then it will be transported up to Pete's on my car trailer Paint wise - It will be fine for flatting back & polishing in the morning - 2 packs are very durable and with the range of activators available its both easy & flexible to adapt to the temperature conditions - I have used a medium hardener which will cure the paint fine given the current temps / weather of + 15c - in summer + 20c there is a slower hardener available and in winter a quicker one - basically you don't want the paint to be curing too quickly that it does not flow out has you apply it - in winter you need the reverse of this - you can also add a accelerator (commonly known has 'Rocket' to the paint to speed the whole process up if required) therefore the smart repair boys can get lacquer to cure in sub 15 mins and are flatting & polishing has soon has they have cleaned the spray gun out

With typical British weather being less bright than the powerful colour match lamps it will look great outside and change slightly on a sunny day. The new blue looks more classy than the original blue out of the gun so will be stunning after a polish. It must be very satisfying for you and Pete to see the shell painted after so much hard work, now we can all look forward the seeing the outer panels painted and fitted.

So peteh1969 what condition is the running gear in? Have you refurbished bits whilst the shell has been away? Because I’m guessing seeing this you are really excited to get it together, and though you wouldn’t want to rush it, it must be like being an 8 year old the week before Christmas!? (Or is that just me, sat over here and excited to see it finished ) Are you hoping to have it at the NEC this year?

John
I have refurbished all of the front running gear and added some improvements to it at the same time.
I will be starting a build thread soon showing everything I have done up until when Chris had the shell and then continuing the re build after I have it back.
I have no deadlines to get it ready for so I won't be rushing for anything, I intend to do the re build properly, it's the only way to do justice to the work Chris has put in on it as several others on here I'm self employed and have to fit working on cars after my customer orders have been full filed and the only thing that takes priority over that is any family needs.

Beautiful Chris, absolutely stunning, Can't wait to see it when it's been flatted and polished, (as it's not "baked", how long will you give the paint to harden off ??) Nigel
