I opened the bonnet of my non retro normal car to check the oil this morning and found it full of cobwebs. Yuck! I hate spiders how do I keep the horrid beasties out of my car? I'm used to them hanging webs on the mirrors even though I clear them off every morning but if they're going to get inside as well I may need to take action. This is the only type of Spider I want to see, though I can't understand why they had to name it after one of the most unpopular creatures ever. Did they plan to follow it up with the earwig? slug? tapeworm?

I've had ladybird infestations in the door shuts of my Ducato camper and a wasp build a nest hanging off an axle of a project car that was jacked up long term....

all our cars (and my mums too) have spiders in the door mirrors...sure they must be a separate species all their own!!

A generously proportioned garden spider lives under the airbox of my ZZR1100 daily. Some mornings I find her in a fresh web hanging off the screen or a mirror but she soon scuttles home once we get going. I like to think she's a bit of a theft deterrent.

Spiders mean they found food...

Spiders mean they found food... That makes sense, having a web on a car or bike or something else that moves through the air must be like trawling!

What you need are... a few of these. Jumping spiders. They're great bits of kit. Here they blend quietly into society, only popping out to vault onto something tasty - a bit like lawyers. They are happy little things and will sit on your hand for ages before hurling themselves at something edible. Only a few make webs, but then only next to a normal spider, with a view to making it dinner. It's their favourite food. Chuck a handful of them under yer bonnet!

We don't kill them in our house. By order of SWMBO they are captured and relocated although my Lurcher doesn't understand why after a successful hunt my wife goes ape at her to leave it go....

We flat out don't kill them, ever. Or relocate. We just leave them be. We have a large number of Pholcus phalangioides living here as well as a fully grown cardinal spider we see now and then, had to rescue it from the bath a couple of times (if you are scared of spiders, these bad boys are the stuff of nightmares!). Did have a few false widows around but they seem to have moved out. But, better to have the spiders than what they have found to eat!!

The two that live in my both of my campers wing mirrors have done alot of travelling this year.
I'm not a great fan of spiders but try and leave them alone or relocate the bigger ones if in the house. The best spider catchers and killers are daddy longlegs, despite looking comical when moving they can easily dispatch house spiders bigger than themselves.

Sometimes gets called daddy long legs along with a plethora of other arachnids and insects which get rolled into the same name. They eat literally anything.
