Fiat Cinquecento 1998 ( R ) Imola Blue Sporting
I have owned this car for 3 years, it was taken off the road not long after I purchased it for me to carry out a partial restoration / performance upgrades, I have owned a few of these over the years and this one being the 5th I know them pretty well.
I decided I wanted to build a track car as these are a good base for a small hatchback that handle extremely well.
these are going to be a future classic as people are realising that not many of these are left and the potential they have. they are a very love it or hate it style of car but all in all slowly gaining a retro status and a following.
I am only advertising this for sale as I currently have 3 sat on my driveway, ( one is a friends) but the other I have is now getting some attention over winter so this one wont be getting used and cant just let it sit on the drive.
The car itself is as follows.
10 months MOT.
engine is a 1242 cc 8valve engine from a punto. SPI (single point injection)
866 cam fit and has been correctly shimmed, head has been ported / polished and gas flowed
40mm tricker throttle body
4 branch manifold with a centre exit silencer at the rear of the vehicle.
it is running a chipped ecu.
new radiator fit last year. new cambelt and aux belt 2 month ago.
had a complete new clutch kit fit when engine was built. new water pump and thermostat.
upper front OMP strut brace.
engine mounts and gearbox mounts are fully polybushed.
rear axle has been fully polybushed. suspension consists of shortened shocks and lowering springs.
recently had a full set of new red lowering springs bought for the vehicle. ( rears have been fit ) fronts will come with the vehicle but havn't been fit.
all brakes have been refurbed. new drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, springs, etc etc. new hand brake cable. fronts have had new brembo discs and pads recently.
all brake pipes have been replaced with new copper lines. rears run through the car and go through a bias valve, red coated braided brake hoses fit to every corner.
fuel tank had been removed during the build. fully cleaned out, rubbed down, undersealed and re painted.
interior has been fully stripped out. no sound deadening. no carpets, no heater.
interior consists of a wiring loom that has been wrapped in red cable tidy. an alloy centre console with relevant switchs attatched. speedo cluster has been moved to the centre of the vehicle.
gear selection has been removed from the underside of the car and mounted internally to lift the whole mecanism up and bring gear selection closer to the driver.
it did have 2 x bucket seats fit with harnesses. these have been removed and are in my new one, so it comes with 2 x standard front seats. currently no seat belts fit as I have misplaced the factory red seatbelts, I will find these and refit before a sale is complete to allow vehicle to be legally driven away.
bonnet is on 4 pins so just lifts off. just made it easier for working on.
front bumper on 4 quick release clips / pins, again to allow ease of access to parts and allow easy loading on a trailer.
bad bits ( all cars have them ) : nsf cv boot split and leaking grease.
no heater -we are getting into winter. I have a heater that can go with the car. speedo will have to be moved back to original position to allow refit.
both rear wheel bearings are noisey, ( easy and cheap to replace)
nsf wheel bearing has play in it. ( was going to do when cv boot was done)
the body is presentable and cleans up well. it does have a faded roof, and every panel has either a don't or scratch, nothing nast but it is a rough and ready 19 year old track car. (only been a track car for the last 12month)
will come on 3x standard 13" sporting alloys and 1 fiat spacesaver due to some kind scrap man stealing one from my driveway.
I am keeping the alloys that were on it in the pictures due to them being rare maseratti bi turbo alloys.
the list goes on and I have plenty of pictures to back up everything I have said. it has been a great little car to build and I never intended on parting with it that's why its been a no expense spared build.
I could talk about this car for hours and type all sorts of useless information.
I don't know what bhp it is as I havnt had the chance to get it on a rolling road. I did take the car to croft in june on a track day and it perfomed amazingly. surprised a lot of people and got a lot of attention because of how small and quick it was. yes it isn't the quickest at all but it kept up in the corners and I still had a great day, this is a cheap small car and would be ideal for someone wanting to enter track days on a small budget.
only selling due to owning another one that has more power and this one isn't getting used.
