Interested in all this CV talk as a few Acty owners have cv joint issues and standard replacements are scarce on the ground.
What is the 80mm / 78mm etc measurements you’re talking about? The internal diameter of where the drive shaft slots in to? Or external diameter?
Cheers in advance

Right. Back to the boredom stakes. Or rather from the sublime to the ridiculous. Two of the jobs I had running yesterday couldn't be further apart, both in size and application. These are nearly finished,Drive sprockets for a Panther tank rebuild Inside hole is 660mm And this little job 120 special application valves . Stainless steel body with a 1.5mm hole up its wotsit,40mm deep. Broke one drill yesterday ,by blowing the swarf off the drill. Second drill has lasted 40 holes so far. Pretty good run yesterday. 80 holes to go then, followed by a bit of turning. Then fun, fun, fun. 5 holes drilled in radially, 0,3mm diameter....

In better news, the cv joint turned up. Couldn't have been a tighter fit 😂😂 Shaft size a bit smaller diameter than what I would have liked, but should get away with it if I make a hardened shaft from a suitable material. Will take a punt on it. If it breaks,it wouldn't be a huge redesign to change it. Got to start somewhere... Need to make a driveshaft flange now to bolt it to the output shaft. Before I do that I need to make a tool.... Well, not exactly. I need to repair a tool,to modify a tool.I will need to cut some splines, both internal and external. To do this I will need to grind some form tools. So I procured this An Old Tip lap grinder. Basically a special application tool grinder using a diamond wheel, that was there, but was pretty bereft of a girls best friend. Found less than 4 miles from home. Amazing what you can find when you look..Have got a new diamond wheel for it,just need to make a new arbor to mount it 😊

I see now, much clearer with the photo, what is the diameter of your shaft? Ooh err. Luckily I have a spare shaft so I can count teeth and measure to investigate possible alternatives. It’s very unlikely that what you have is what the Acty would need but when I read the things that you look into from completely different cars it makes me wonder how universal these parts are / can be. PS I’ve no use for the scooter tyres that I bought now so you can have them if you can use them on these build at some point.

Thanks! Will need one tyre for the front. What diameter are the joints on the Acty? I believe the ones on the s2000 propshaft are pretty small. Quite likely that the cv joints on the Acty are used on more than one model, quite possibly used by other manufacturers too.... Haven't measured the splines yet. I believe there are 24 splines, diameter of about 20mm or so. Have been wondering if it isn't the same spline as used on the Vw golf input shaft 😂😂

My Acty and spare shaft are away at the moment but from memory I’d guess approximately 20mm too. My only thoughts are age as these are are late 70s design so not sure how much things like this developed over 30 years. All bolt threads are the same so maybe shaft diameter/ spline counts were kept fairly universal too.

Yes I’m actually going down Friday afternoon to let the Acty chug along at its own pace in 30 mile shifts. If you’re en route I can drop them off.
