The other sub loom, radiator fans and other no use to me tat arrived today. Binned the tat and brought this home Connected up the clock,run/kill switch. Headlights indicators etc before plugging it into the main loom Plugged it in and turned the key Moved the kill switch to the run position . Fuel pump runs for a couple of seconds to prime, pressed the starter button but motor doesn't turn over. Forgot about this, the Sidestand switch Bridged that and tried again, pressed the starter button and.....

For general bodgery, beer is fine. For Wiring a couple of types of alcohol are needed Confident everything was correct and present to get this engine to turn over,it was back to basics. Checked fuses etc. Bridged the starter solenoid out which resulted in this Oil pressure light going out As the engine cranked 😊 So, problem not with the starter motor. Took a look at the switch Did have my concerns when I bought this switch Why would it be less than half the price of all the others advertised on the Bay of Flea? Think you know the answer there... Not making contact. More alcohol for all involved, and a little bit of a tickle with an ear bud. For the switch, you pervert..😂 Now consistently makes contact when depressed, again, the switch, not me 😂 All back together. Hit the switch, and THE ENGINE TURNS OVER 😎 So, looking very good for a start at the weekend. Have oil pressure, should have fuel pressure,as the pump is priming. And engine turns over on the button. Getting very close now. Just need to sort out some vacuum hoses and sort this out. It was another iffy design on the TLR,with the fuelpump gasket leaking at the bottom of the tank. Need to get some fuelhose,so I can plonk the pump into a temporary fuel tank. Need to get some fuel, and then see what the weekend holds...

Just caught up with this - back in the day I had a TL1000S with Scorpion end-cans. Somewhere along the line I did the wiring bodge to give me full power in all the gears..
The thing was totally wild - and that is coming from someone that daily's an MT10.
I sold it to a poor unsuspecting young man who sold it on very quickly after soiling his undies a few too many times.
Cannot wait to see (hear) this thing...

Plan made to separate pump from filter and fuel gauge,so pump could be dropped into a suitable container. Disconnected original wiring for now, will reinstate later when tank is finalised Connected it all up,went through the sequence. And? Motor swings over but no fire. 🤔 Can't hear pump running. Weird. Much dicking around and I realise I never plugged the pump back in the loom after changing the pipe work 🙄🙄🙄. Ok, take two... And? Pump runs, but nothing coming out the fuel return from the pressure regulator, which it should. Wa wa wa wa...Waaaa.....waaaaa.waaaaa.click click click.. Battery flat. Going to be a long weekend at this rate.

Whilst the bat flattery was getting electron therapy,I turned my eye to the " no fuel returning from the pressure regulator" sceanario. Always a problem when using parts from unknown pasts. Given the fact I could hear the pump, the likely hood was pretty good that it did have the means to supply fuel. So,before I carried on,I thought I should check the pipes. Pulled the pipe off the pressure regulator, and there is fuel pressure there. Which is good 😊 Blowing through the return pipe shows that it's blocked. Which, given the fact ithe engine stood outside under a tarp, with all the pipes open to the elements,is not surprising. Rodded it through with a thick bit of wire and a whiteish ball of crud emerged. Closer inspection looks like incy wincy spider has been shagging in my pipes...Hopefully the RSPCA ,( Royal society for the prevention of cruelty to Arachnids) ,doesn't get wind of it,and does me for drowning spiderets..... Pipe replaced. Battery full of electron goodliness. Let's try again. All connected up again

Wa wa wa wa wa Wa wa wa wa wa Seems as if my stutter is getting worse. Or my sound effects are not getting any better.😊 Well, the engine is now turning over with a dash of speed. But still no smoke. Given the amount of oil chucked down the bores,it's not really surprising it's not firing. So, plan B. Bit of squirty squirty go go juice down the throttle bodies Wa wa wa wa KAPOW , and we have an impressive fire ball out the front exhaust Turned it over again,as we all know one good turn deserves another, and another impressive fireball, this time out the rear throttle body. I know what this is... I had originally looked at the coil wiring. Orange wire with a white trace I worked out as +ve supply to cylinder 1, with the orange wire with a black trace being the +ve supply to coil 2. Forgot this was Japanese, and seeing my wiring was correct to the wiring diagram,I swopped the cylinders over instead and...

Wa wa wa wa wa Wa wa wa wa wa I thought it was the fire engine! More likely the noise police Throws pretty impressive flames out the exhaust stubs. Need to go fetch the radiator before further running Couple of silencers wouldn't go amiss either 😂😂😂

Probably best not to have alcohol of choice in shot unless it’s sambuca.

Given that I now know the engine is a goer, progress can commence. Engine no longer needs to reside on the floor. So up onto the workbench. Need to sort out the sheared exhaust stud Clutch slave cylinder mounting is broken It's a bit weird that the stator cover has provision for a clutch cable. Might have been parts bin raided from another model Found another exhaust stub in Lenham,so went and collected that Saturday, with a detour past carbuilder solutions on the way home to get some radiator pipes Went up to V8ian this morning and collected a radiator. Thanks Ian 😊 Quite an interesting bit of kit. Dual core ally radiator, quite possibly from a Formula car...😊 Also gave me this A flatshift kit. Let's you keep the throttle open and change gear. Hard to find anything out on the internet so wasn't looking very hopeful as I would need a wiring diagram. Mention of it on a couple of kitcar forums, but no wiring diagram or set up sheet to be found. Emailed the manufacturer, bearing in mind it's no longer in production, and it's a bank holiday ... Half an hour later ,I had this... Setup sheet and wiring diagram. Now, that's what I call customer service 😊😊😊

RESULT...... I am now starting to see room both in my Dining room and my garage, much to my gain , Cant complain about the flat shifter response.... I'm still curious how you know how you knew how to tie a Hangmans noose, no problem at all..... Albert Pierrepoint in disguise?
