hi all years ago I purchased a car for parts use. I removed what I needed.
literally all that's left is the chassis and wishbones. no doors roof front or back!
so the cars in the way where it's stored it is in my name but I've moved three times since (the cars still at the address it was registered to) and can I hell find the v5c. it's been off the road so long I think the DVLA stopped asking if it was sorn or not.
can I get it scrapped as is without v5? if say a year down the line I find the v5 then what do I do with that lol.
I'm quite happy to leave the car where it is but I'm being forced to move it lol.
cheers!

I scrapped an MX5 with no V5 that had been stripped and chopped in half. I sent the DVLA a cover letter including the reg number and VIN number and essentially told them that I had dismantled and destroyed the vehicle. 8 days later I received a letter back saying that it had been recorded as scrapped and de registered. One of the rare occasions when corresponding with the DVLA was a simple pleasure.

I have done this numerous times, just turned up with a stripped shell and I've never been asked for a V5.
The last time, about a month ago, I had a Saab 9-5 that I had the engine and interior from. The scrapyard wouldn't give me any money if they collected because it technically wasn't a car anymore with out an engine. If it's stripped, they shouldn't bother.

Laws have probably changed now but years ago, when you actually had to pay to have cars scrapped, a mate chopped a metro into pieces and took it to the tip 😂

I usually just write scrapped across the pages of the V5 and send it to DVLA. You can scrap any car without V5 if it hasn't got an engine.

Thread resurrection time!
Does this actually work (writing scrapped across v5 and sending it in)?
Just had a scrap car taken away today and chap didnt want v5 docs, so i have v5 and no car now and no idea where it went for scrapping to complete dvla requirements.

Got confirmation that i am no longer registered keeper today, so writing scrapped across all pages of v5 and a covering letter worked a treat.
