Ha ha yes. Seeing as I'm building this for me AND the kids, I need to at least give them some means of stopping should they need to. Brake disc has arrived today so I'm happy. It's a rear disc off of a Yamaha Raptor, so should be more than up to the job! Expect another update later on tonight

So, here we are again. It's time to show you what tinkering I've been up to this evening. New diff drive sprocket blank arrived. This should ensure I get a sensible speed out of it (approx 20mph) ....and machined to fit the diff housing; Adapter machined to fit the new (Yamaha Raptor) brake disc too;

With the new drive sprocket and brake disc fitted I was now able to finally assemble the rear axle assembly; It's the first time the rear wheels have actually been bolted to the rear axle! (Yes, I realised afterwards that the wheels are on the wrong way round!) Anyhow, I chopped 7" off of the chassis rails and welded in the front cross member. Along with which I fitted the mounting points for the hairpins; I'm quite enjoying doing some brazing again. I don't get to do enough of it at work these days. So, with the front of the chassis propped up (I'm still waiting to find a suitable leaf spring to mount the axle with) the chassis is finally sitting on all four wheels! And that's where it will have to stay until next week. Busy weekend with family stuff and attending a steam rally (with the Atco and rotovator believe it or not!)

There are a fair few builds on here that amaze and surprise me in various ways, but not that many that make me chuckle at every update like this one does. Absolutely awesome!

Right then. That's gotten the weekend out of the way, so with family duties out of the way, I can continue progress on this contraption! So, we all know these kids toys are , well, for kids, so they're not big. I hadn't quite accepted just how small though; Either I need the shrink ray gun off of Despicable Me, or I need to enlarge this thing somehow! Despite it being something of a mission, the latter is the easiest route. So, I started cutting and pop riviting stuff; That's an extra 10" in width. Now it's not perfect by any means, but with a little more bracing and some fibreglass I think we're on to something A little wheel arch clearancing; Similar approach to the roof; Decided to leave the plastic abuse for a whille and get back to something I'm more comfortable with. Making metal stuff! A mate of mine, who does historic stock cars, dropped me a leaf spring to steal a leaf or two from. This enabled me to make a spring for the front axle. I welded the eyes on the end of the spring with a 7018 low hydrogen rod, which are designed to reduce cracks, so it should be up to the job. A couple of mounting points on the axle and a pair of shackles sees the spring attached to the axle itself; And at that point I called it quits and went home for dinner!

During a drunken BBQ a few years ago I was made a bet that I couldn't get into my kids old Crazy Coupe. With a resounding chorus of 'Hold my Beer' I squeezed my 6'1" frame into the Coupe, triumphantly proving the doubters wrong. Couldnt get out. They left me in there for about an hour as I became more and more questioning of their parents relationship before they finally had to cut me out... Oh how we all laughed after. Not. I think I still have the cut up remains in the shed if you need any bits. Please continue, love it. P.

My kids had a go and they couldn't get in it either!

This is exactly why we love RR Leave it a week and browse and you're sure to stumble over something utterly fantastic like this. Coolest thing ever. The only tiny downside is that it won't have a Hemi motor like the one in the OP

This is incredible. I must admit that I was down the tip earlier where they had a couple of crazy coupes and I was wondering how on Earth you planned to fit inside. I'd come to the conclusion that you must be a dwarf. Are you going to leave the roof off, it sort of looks a bit like a T-bucket without the roof I reckon!
