front n/s repairs continue hand forming repair panels certainly takes a lot longer than recycling s/h ones making the inner wing guard, just mirrored the o/s one been toying with the idea of fitting a 1300 FWD nacelle to a Toledo dash for years, but never got round to finding one,got this cheap off ebay to see if it'll work, will need dash top cutting back little plate to tie in turret rear sub frame mounting point,to keep the seam I welded the two parts together before fitting, got to use the shrinker/stretcher more welding planned for next week, thats all for now.

Great work and pictures, I admire your skills and patience. How do you protect inside the panel?, the bare metal and welds

How do you protect inside the panel?, the bare metal and welds Thanks ,I've been using some weld through galv spray, then red oxide and finally wax oil ,some of those donor panels I've been using are like new on the inside thanks to that wax oil even though theres barely any primer on them and the car was sat in a friends damp lock up for nearly 20 yrs

You are good at this - going to be a gem when finished. Thanks ,with all this body work I'm only hoping the engine goes in ok,my biggest concern is the front sump bowl which protrudes past the crank pulley,if I leave as is it will need major subframe mods, been looking into if anyone does a dry sump kit for it but no luck so far,the stock sump doesn't look to easy to modify with the oil pump and filter built into it.

Really cool project, is going to be wild when done! Very neat body work too, what do you use to clean up the welds to make it all look seamless?!

Thanks Will,I use mostly a 4 1/2" grinder to knock them down then put on a 80 grit flap wheel then a finish with a 240 grit one, when butt welding i spend a lot of time making sure the two edges are perfectly level to one another,if they are not it doesn't matter how much you grind you will be able to see the join.

Been collecting more parts,NOS 12" Kenlowe kit under-seal removal its been coming off quite easily with a blunt wood chisel and cleaned up with some petrol, probably because its so cold. and because its so cold I've stayed in doors and got on with the dash, got a piece of American black walnut off ebay and then had a local timber yard plane and cut to length, got enough for two dashs trail fitting, swapped over all the hard wear from the original dash cutting out the dash top the bloke who sold me this 1300 fwd nacelle kindly also supplied the original mounting brackets just needs staining and some bees wax,the clocks are just in for show ,will be swapping for electronic ones, back on the body next week.

Very Very nice. Can I suggest french polishing rather than staining and bees wax, it will look much better and last so much longer.
The grain on that wood is too good to stain and when french polished it would be a nice dark subtle colour.

Saw this advert in a motoring weekly Look at that, nine hundred and fifty quid! My dad bought a J reg two door Toledo brand new in 1970, he paid £928. I like what youre doing with it and am probably a little bit jealous of you for having it.

Loving your repairs going on. Neat welding! Plus one from me at filling everything with penetrating wax after its repaired. I reckon the Bilt Hamber S50 stuff is the best ive used for flowing into all the nooks and crannies.
Oh and I'm also liking the nice oldschool Selle Italia Flight saddle on that road bike. I'm still using one on my oldest 1990 mtb and its still comfy as!
