Saw this advert in a motoring weekly same year, colour and a two door same as my granddads from the seventies so just had to have it,bought unseen from the south coast, didn't look to bad on the photo here it is just been delivered , the front interior is shot, its done 98000 mls ,rear is pretty good, the drivers seat was so badly worn it had been swapped with the passenger one this is were I'm up to with the welding and this is power plant I'm going to try and fit into it,its long at 24" and tall at 26",so 3" longer than the Honda f20c nice slim 6 speed g/box

If it's anything like the S2000 Toledo, this will be brilliant Love the way the ad says "Needs wielding underneath". Wielding a welder, one presumes...

going to end up with a Q plate some say now, lol good job on the welding Hope not, original chassis 5 points, suspension (front and back)2 points ,steering assembly original 2 points=9 points, the thing I'm not sure about is how much restoration is allowed to qualify for original, shouldn't imagine there are nt many 40yr old BL cars that haven't had any panels replaced ,there are no new panels available for Dolomite/Toledos ,new old stock turn up from time to time,so its mostly s/hand to repair rusty panels,

You're in the same boat I am mate, looking at about 9 points by keeping suspension and steering the same. Regarding body shell, restoring what is there is fine. Welding some extra brackets is generally considered to be fine. Cutting chunks out is a big no-no

In for updates. Are you going sleeper with standard everything apart from running gear and hidden mechanicals? Yes sleeper its the only look I know.

Hi just a small update of boring bodywork progress made o/side jacking point removed n/side wing because I was running out of patching steel, not a lot left here and its not even the original wing tacked in o/side jacking point repairs small patch on o/side floor welds knocked down still got plug welds to do then grind back

started on n/side floor, this worse than the other side because chassis rail as rotted through cutting out chassis leg floor out o/side floor, still needs seam weld grinding down,I try and do most of my grinding in the week when hopefully most of the neighbours are at work. offering up n/side floor, this still has the chassis rail on it picked this sprint axle up for a reasonable price, its gone a bit orange because its been outside for a few days I'm going to convert it to discs with these MGF parts, purely for cosmetic reasons. also modded the Toledo subframe by cutting the rear off it and welding on the rear of a rotted out sprint subframe.it also has surface rust because I'm running out of storage space!.

started removing n/side sill, its shot to pieces. its been replaced in the past with an over sill and had some repairs to the diaphragm panel. I'm going to remove the diaphragm so I can get at the inner sill to repair, managed to get hold of a nos 2 door outer sill n/side floor welded. o/side with welds being ground down. also got some rear repair arches from the club on order, thats it for now.

rear repair arches from TDC arrived, seem really good quality. got some more time on the N/S sill. was going to try and repair the bottom half of the inner sill but decided would be quicker to replace the whole panel inner sill and diaphragm panels, they've had bits chopped out for other cars so will have to make good, top one is the original and will be a good template. box section and flange need some repair. nearly there, last bit of inner sill being removed.
