	Put up some small shelves today, which were little offcuts from the wood that went up on the downstairs wall. Love the little iron brackets, which fit in well with the ironwork in the construction of the pier in the big pics. I wanted them to be really discreet. I'm going to put some little plants on them, and maybe a small framed black and white pic or two. First low down coffee table assembled Some slate tiles for food display.

	yes, plants will want some light. How's ventilation down there? I imagine it could get quite stuffy when full of people?

	I've been looking for plants which thrive without direct sunlight for the shelf pots. We're sending back the three un-assembled low level coffee tables. They just don't fit in with the rest of the furniture. Four more oak ones ordered today.

	Dumb question that I've very probably missed the answer to - does it have its own parking, or is it "give it legs from the public car park"? No issue for me, I was a greyhound in a past life, but I'm thinking of future Sunday morning mini gatherings...

	Back to it tomorrow. Been ill with shingles followed up by 'flu. Still not great, but onwards we go. Tomorrow is the day we should get the confirmation from the council about the change if use for the premises.

	Well, we got the news that we needed today. The council have confirmed they have no objections to our application for a change of use to the premises, so it's full steam ahead to opening now. Provisional opening date is Friday 26th January, so two weeks on Friday. After my bout of flu, I was back in today and made some progress with shelving put up and quite a bit more furniture built, plus three meetings with suppliers etc. The correct type of freezer for gelato ice cream arrived today too. The wrong type is back on ebay. Gotta learn from your mistakes! Shelving unit for retail sale goods. It'll just be boxes of silky bags of the same loose leaf tea that we use in the pots, and jams/chutneys from another local supplier. Lots more to do (coffee tables/chairs etc). Upstairs looks like an Argos warehouse with all the boxes!

	around here in Brighton, theres only one type of place I ever notice that consistently have people queuing out the door and up the street and that's the people selling swanky ice cream. hope you have got room out the front!

	Progress report. Interviewed a young person for the apprentice role. More interviews to come, so no decision yet. Bathroom pretty much finished for what I can sort. Water heater on, plumbed in and working. Sink sorted. Baby changer unit fitted. Mirror on wall on the other side. New soft close wooden toilet seat on. All grouting finished. I've just got a couple of small wallpaper patches/repairs to do, and then Initial are coming on Thursday to drop off the sanitary bin, and install the hand dryer, soap dispenser and loo roll holder. I went for artificial plants in the end, and I've framed a couple of old black and white postcards for the invisible shelves.... Unwrapped the new gelato freezer today and hooked it up for the first time. Very nice it is too... Spent the later part of the day building the ten remaining the tub chairs. So relieved to see some floor again, and for the place not to look like the Argos warehouse... Lots of permutations of chair/layouts to try still. Nowt is set in stone. Got a meeting with a dessert supplier tomorrow, and a mate is then helping me move the 'wrong' freezer over to mine to store until sold in the Transit. Cash & Carry run tomorrow afternoon, along with taking back five of the square tables, which we are replacing with round ones. Another meeting on Sunday with a cake/biscuit supplier. Then the penultimate week before opening begins on Monday....
