I can't fool myself anymore - it's a flabby old Dad-Van! That's why you need that bodykit! Sorry to see the Nevada go, I've always thought they're great cars. Are they a Robert Opron design? I am a bodykit sort of bloke - I saw a wide-body Porsche 924 last week which took up almost both lanes of the road! I started foaming. The Nevada has found a cushy corner - it's sat between pre- and post -war MGs and 1950s Gordinis with a glorious lake view. I found it quite unbelievable it found such a saviour. Otherwise it was going to get flogged to death in Africa! I don't know who designed it? I really had had enough trying to keep it going - I was going mental phoning scrapyards all over France and they couldn't understand a word or just couldn't be bothered. It's the first time I haven't had a French car for thirty years but old Opels are so refreshingly easy and cheap to look after.

Good to see the new toy & that you have secured their home. I assume it was not quite as rusty as the Sintra.. The wide-rimmed-stretch-tyred Astra cabrio certainly isn't a Dad-Van.. at least I assume it is not a 1.3 automatic poseur.

Good to see the new toy & that you have secured their home. I assume it was not quite as rusty as the Sintra.. The wide-rimmed-stretch-tyred Astra cabrio certainly isn't a Dad-Van.. at least I assume it is not a 1.3 automatic poseur. Gday 79cord I am glad someone - apart from me - is interested in 90s Opels! Oh, now I wish it was a 1.3 auto so I could show what a complete hairdresser I am ! The rust wasn't too bad - that was one of the stipulations before I bought it that I had extensive under-body photos. It was mostly surface stuff on the doors, arches, sills etc and one large patch behind the fuel filler. Here are the mechanicals.. it's a pretty typical early 2000s Opel tuning job, bit of Euro stretch but quality and done with restraint. I mentioned in the first post today how important it was that all modifications were entered in the rego papers. Outside of D people probably don't realise what a huge deal this is? I have the paperwork regarding the installation and certification of the 'new' engine. Once it had been fitted he had to travel to a specialist tuning company to get an individual engineers assessment for the TÜV approval.. the cost? Almost €500! And that was almost fifteen years ago. There is a second page attached to the rego papers just for all the modifications - probably about €2k went into it just to get all the TÜV stamps of approval. The previous owner who is a fastidious tuner expressed the opinion that it probably isn't possible to get such a car road legal anymore here. It's not too flash but it suits me..

Hope all had a good Bank Holiday. It was a normal Monday here but I was reminded of Bank Hols in the Olde Lande when we got a surprise visit from Mr V8 Stellar matfenwick and his wife in their LT. Don't get mates just dropping in so often this far south. I was preparing Mr Brown for camping this week and looks like we could have company!
