Great stripes, Visa chrono & Gilbern invader. Scary Sintra, too late for Halloween. Good spots. That is the only Gilbern Invader in D supposedly. I didn't know what it was at first. The Chronos were specially located in Belgium for a client and are getting the full monty. The Sintra story just gets worse - last nights archaeological dig provided some more horror. No one would save this. Certainly there's better ones to be had but I'm stuck with it - as I've said before : I'm in too deep now. When I've finished the welding, it's brake pipes, new exhaust from the manifold back including two catalysers, both plastic headlights are crazed and full with moisture etc. etc. I was in the hardware store this morning buying some grinder discs and the boss Ewald has found someone to repair his Omega MV6 for a much more reasonable price than the €3k he was quoted so the 80k kms plant won't be coming my way. He was happy about it, not looking like his dog had died anymore, so I don't really mind. He was laying down a monologue about the advantages of the Omega's auto box versus the manual box his previous one had. Another customer was waiting to be served otherwise I'd probably still be standing there, nailed to the spot.

Is that a Merc 406/407 in the background? I've got a 407d I'm hoping to squeeze a musso engine and sprinter gearbox into.... One day after I've knocked a few other projects off the list.

Yes, a '73 406D. Your concept sounds good. It comes via the wife. The father-in-law bought it cheap and broken in 1980 from a furniture company - put a new engine in and converted it to a camper. Every summer they toured in it, my wife grew up with it. It's seen most of EU. It's a nice piece. When I first joined Retro Rides, this was the subject of my first thread. It's made in Düsseldorf and thus these vans are nicknamed 'Düdo' - hence my user name.

Here's the 406 c. 2007 when it was in regular use. I took it off the road in 2008 and rebuilt the engine then again in 2013 for all the bodywork stuff but it got stuck half-finished. Mechanically it's sound and I've done most of the welding but now there's six people in our family it got a bit tight so we go camping with the Cruiser and roof tent. It's real slow, and very physical to drive compared to newer vehicles but has a great feeling about it.

You're going though topic titles quicker than most of us through toilet rolls!

You're going though topic titles quicker than most of us through toilet rolls! I prefer a Man Size tissue myself, tastefully dispensed from a golden tissue box holder. The first part of the title : The Opel Coast will remain unchanged throughout fluctuating levels of rust and horse power. The second part changes to indicate which of the Rüsselsheim wrecks is getting a fettling - thus keeping abreast of the fast moving developments like ' check this rust hole, it's a bit bigger than the last rust hole.'

The bad puns attract ones interest.
I can understand your affliction, although mine -shockingly- surrounds a different marque.
Your yarns are interesting enough that I enjoy finding the thread has new replies anyways.

The price is right, but if have To be some sort of masochist to dig deep and actually do it. Wouldn't I? They were sheet when they were new and over the years - unless properly maintained - got sheeter ( and the seller having 95.7% suggests some extra sheet) but when sorted are fast/comfortable family vans. Anyway, that's what I mutter to myself while endlessly fiddling with Frank Sintra. Oh Matron. I have had one glorious 600km run from Dresden in mine averaging 180kmph but often over 200kmph and the memory of that sustains me This must be one of two or three V6s left in the UK - according to last time I looked on 'How many left?' Many parts are still available in Germany as many of the survivors are being slaughtered right now . Same engine as the Omega. Cost an eye-watering thirty grand when new! C'mon, for a few ponies you can flagellate yourself silly! And join an exclusive Club. But, as Groucho Marx said, and as I often repeat : I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member.

I looked at that online myself, but SWMBO said no. I've got it's little sister in the shape of a Zafira though so swings and roundabouts!

brothersgrimm said You could have them both. You'll need the Zafira still as the Sintra will never be on the road - it's like a large garden ornament.

mikeyp247 wrote Haha yes. There's only one way that Sintra prices are going! Looks like I've got myself a real investment, and the wife mocked me when I bought it, but who's laughing now eh? Like gold these Sintras. If the pervert that bought it is out there, please reveal yourself. I wanna have a closer look at that Irmscher grill baby ( I reckon the seller would have photographed it if he could have got it running to turn it round)
