I ran a 2.5TD cherokee for a while. Did a bit of green laning in it, then fitted a 3" lift kit and then sold it. I still see it mooching around. The diesel was superb off road simply stick it in low ratio and it would climb the side of the house. Great fun. Cheap american fun.

Seeing as a friend of mine has very recently bought a '95 pre-facelift 4 litre, we thought we could combine shipping on some USDM parts. So an order has been placed with Rock Auto for a pair of chrome grilles, 4 US tail lights, a bug deflector and cup holder for mine along with some miscellaneous service and repair parts that were harder to find over here so as soon as that arrives expect some awesome to start happening. I did however decide that I would make use of the 4 day weekend and the bad weather to have a gander at the rust in the floor and trans-tunnel on the passenger side. SIGH. Always worse than you think. That's the prop through the hole, brake and fuel lines run just under the box section flange in the big 'ole so cutting it all out was a bit bum twitchy but it's fine. All welded up now but I forgot to take a photo, seeing as the paint was still drying I shall take one tomorrow when I put the interior back together. Whilst waiting for paint to dry I ripped the front off to straighten the nudge bar brackets, remove the bent towing eye you couldn't actually use because there was only 1 bolt holding it to some sheet panelwork and was pushing the airdam forward, check the threads for the rubber nudge bar bobbins so I can get some new ones and generally make sure if I need to take the nudge bar off to fit the grille I actually can. Moderately productive.

The chrome grille is a great move.
Now are the wood panels also still available?

Some boxes started arrivin', and some parts I started fittin'. Off with the old.. On with the new. I've taken the A-bar off. I have a plan.. Plan involves these. Tail lamps also arrived. Fit is OK. They are Depo and cost £15 a side so to be fair have exceeded my expectations in as much as they are the right shape and colours. Euro lamp on the left, USDM on the right. Fitted.. Also, cupholder. BEST ACCESSORY EVER.

I never understood the euro rear lights when the usdm ones already had amber, red and reverse in them already.

those wheels are brilliant!....they really harken back to when AMC owned Jeep and had that style wheel on the BIG Grand Cherokees.
Ill bet you could design a tasteful woodgrain pattern for the side and have it digital printed on signwriters vinyl.....

Ill bet you could design a tasteful woodgrain pattern for the side and have it digital printed on signwriters vinyl..... JP I really think they suit it really well with the new grille, all starting to tie together nicely now. I think I should be able to get a decent wood grain vinyl, I think it'll happen soon enough I never understood the euro rear lights when the usdm ones already had amber, red and reverse in them already. To be fair it's an issue with the rear foglamps, road traffic lighting act (or it may be C&U regs) states the foglamp has to be 10cm or more from the brake lamps. The US model didn't have foglamps so it was never a consideration. The foglamp was installed in the reverse light section, the side lamp became the reversing lamp and the stop and tail was doubled onto a twin filament bulb rather than being 2 separate bulbs. It was seen as a more integrated solution than a separate foglamp unit elsewhere I guess.

More updates. My my aren't we on a roll. The rear arch gap always looked odd, this suffers with obligatory rear arch lower than the front arch syndrome. While you get away with this with weak offset wheels with tame tyres, my new wheels were looking a little tight in the arches. I procured a set of rear lift shackles for the interim until I can afford new heavy duty rear springs. I think the results speak for themselves. With that done, I've started making a thing. Which bolts here to the now redundant A bar brackets.. You should be able to work out what it's for i'm sure

This looks brilliant. I've always loved this version of the Cherokee and nearly bought one a couple of years ago. The MPG was no good for the amount of driving I was doing at the time so I ended up with a 3 series instead I'd love to have one now but don't have space for any more cars haha.

Yea, the MPG is a heavy hitter. But it is better than I was expecting, I can do at least 24MPG on a motorway run which I think for something with an engine from the 60's and the aerodynamics of a wardrobe is pretty good. And that was using the A/C and cruise control.

24mpg sounds pretty reasonable.
