I'm selling my Astra GSi.
It has the XE - it is the very last type with coilpack and no distributor.
Last year I rebuilt the XE top end, it got new valve stem seals, headgasket, thermostat, belt, water pump and tensioners, fuel/oil/air filters. Everything is GM/Vauxhall dealer bought.
The body is in good nick, there's no rust on the arches or sills, the paint is a little bit worn in places and there's little dents from use and storage. The XE is really tough, as is the car in general. It has a Powerflow exhaust and polybushes on the front wishbones and has been lowered about 40mm on AVO suspension/springs. Otherwise, it is standard - engine components, Vauxhall mats, stereo, etc.
ABS is intermittent - I’ve replaced the ABS modulator and sensors - dash light doesn’t flash, it just doesn’t power up. Presume wiring or ECU.
I have no intention of driving it again, I'd forgotten how far ride/handling has come in 25 years, it's a seriously rapid car though, the XE is so punchy and pulls as soon as you give it some throttle.
Recent fixes for MOT are new track rod ends (I unseized and cleaned the connecting rods as these tend to do), cv joint gaiters, new exhaust system with new cat (it is silent now).
