Like most of us, I use this forum a lot as boring cars just don’t do it for me and I’ve always liked to drive something a bit more interesting.
Those that know me will also know I get bored with cars quickly and tend to change them very regularly – possibly why I’ve owned so many over the years.
That said, there are certain cars I keep coming back to. My first car when I was 17 was a Mini and there is still a classic Mini Cooper in my garage which seems to have bucked the trend for changing cars regularly. It’s been in the family from new and I can’t see myself ever getting rid of it.
the keeper…..
The other car I keep coming back to is a beach buggy. I got my first one when I was 18 (swapped it for the Mini!) and I’ve had half a dozen more beach buggies since then. A few months back I sold my MGB to a mate at work and started looking around for a replacement.
The last buggy I owned was this yellow LWB GP. It was a great little buggy but I’ve always preferred SWB buggies, so when the right offer came along I sold it on.
the yellow peril….
I’d stayed in touch with the new owner who was keeping me updated as he modified my old buggy and I’d mentioned to him that I wanted another. He put me on to a friend of a friend who was thinking of selling a buggy.
A few e-mails and calls later and I was heading to Lincoln driving a car transporter a friend had lent me. Soon after that I was heading home with another buggy – number 7 in my buggy owning history!
Even in the dark it’s a bit bright!
Absolutely loving this new buggy – I can’t claim credit for anything as it was built by someone else but their attention to detail was fantastic. Every part of the buggy is well thought out and uses the best components available. The body is a Manx from east Coast Buggies in eye watering candy red metalflake. Engine is a 1600 with the obligatory twin cannons and it runs on Porsche polished cookie cutters.
Just hoping the summer lasts a bit longer now!
