For Sale – Ford Escort Mk2 Ghia Turbo 1978
Slip&Grip Automotive are offering for sale this very cool Mk2 Escort with Mx5 1.6 Turbo Conversion. The car has seen the road for the first time in 17years this year and has only had 5 owners since 1978. It was built from the ground up by the current owner who has used to for the odd trackday and drift demos at local Castle Combe Circuit.
Despite being built for track the car is extremely fun to drive on the road although I’d recommend it as a weekend car rather than daily driver. For the Ford fanatic, an MX5 engine with a turbo may not be the engine of choice but it was chosen because they are reliable engines with plenty of parts available and the car really does go well with the conversion. Car is MOT’d until June 2018.

The car is now 40 years old so the body has seen some repairs in the past and when being built, there is no major rust on the car. However don’t come expecting a show room Mk2 as it is built as a track car. There are bodywork imperfections, some dings and dents. The engine, gearbox and turbo are spot on. When driving on the road it has the odd rattle and vibration which is to be expected for such an old car with a newer engine conversion. Also due to the modifications on the steering it does make a noise on slow turning sometimes. The car comes with various spares for the engine and body.
This is a unique car that can be used on and off track and will certainly turn heads at shows or even the local petrol station. This car is not for the faint hearted and is pretty hardcore to drive with no power steering and track setup. Viewing is highly recommended.
