In a previous life I have occasionally had cause to weld either to or on a mount of the above style engines. From memory (a bit woolly - I'm getting old) I have a feeling that this did not end well, with said engines failing to start afterwards.
Now I'm older and not very much wiser I'm wondering if there's something I caused similar to not disconnecting the battery/alternator and I did damage to the coil/magneto unit? I have to say that in the exuberance of youth I tended to loose interest and move on to something else once failure occurred, and didn't do much investigation or fault finding.
Anyone any thoughts? apart from don''t be so damn lazy and find out what went wrong!
