	I thought I knew American cars quite well but I never new there was an Avanti 4 door Sedan. So after Studebaker went out of business, the Avanti motor company was formed to produce continuation models, initially from left over Stude parts, then later with GM oily bits, called the Avanti II. The best way to tell the difference is the square headlights compared to round ones on the original. I knew this bit already. The early ones look quite good the later 80s & 90s models look more like kit cars with coloured bumpers and modern alloys. But I had no idea they'd made a four door model too. I can't imagine what niche in the market they were trying to fill there.

	I copied this picture from this site and have pondered over it for a while and am intrigued hoe this evolved, and would like to find out anything more. It looks to me like a new shape bonnet fitted to a Mini one and this is left hand drive so not sure where it's from. Any ideas?

	Its a Metisse. The Design originated in the late 80s when it was developed by the Rickman brothers who wanted to diversify in to the Kitcar market after making various fairings and products for Motorcycles. The Suzuki SJ inspired Ranger was a success so they embarked on developing the Metisse - a vaguely BMW M1 inspired 2+2 Sierra based 3 door coupe. After the Kitcar market dwindled they sold off the project to a businessman in Bridgend in South Wales who continued to build the cars in Small numbers. He then at the turn of the millennium redeveloped and styled the car to make it more contemporary and at the same time introduced this pickup variant. They were made up until 2009 - IVA and the scarcity of Sierra doners probably killing it off.
