I pretty much thought I'd seen most cars in England, but I saw one of the first Honda Jazz's today - never even knew they existed in this format as thought it was a Daishatsu Charade from a distance: What pre-90's oddities have you recently discovered?

I pretty much thought I'd seen most cars in England, but I saw one of the first Honda Jazz's today - never even knew they existed in this format as thought it was a Daishatsu Charade from a distance: The one I saw is silver and pretty rusty going by the old MOT history, but it's been under a car-port since 2011 and there's something about it that just says "save me" Mind you, I wouldn't pay over £100 for it, which I feel is fair scrap value lol. What 80's oddities have you recently discovered? Literally this one I never realised Jazz went so far back whilst looking at something the other day, then yesterday I spot a mustard yellow one pulling out of Asda, complete random coincidence

Yeah was reading an article on cars that sold in small numbers, then a few days later not knowing they even existed before hand spotted a yellow A plate one

Wow, what a coincidence! The one I spotted was an A-plate as well. According to Wiki they did an R version as well?
Let's face it though, if you look at Japanese cars just sold in Japan, there's so few that actually made it over here - probably 1/10 if that of the models they produced.

Those things are still relatively common in New Zealand. They were sold here as a Honda City. I'm told the turbo ones go pretty hard.

Until very recently myself, I only knew these as a Honda City. So when I found out that we called them the Jazz, that was a shock to me.

I saw a modern jazz in Birmingham a while back. Nothing unusual, except it was being mercilessly flogged. Weaving traffic, speeding, general tomfoolery. The Jazz driving community would have been appalled.
On a seperate note, I used to see a little car. I'm sure it was an alfa. Probably mid 90's. Had no real features except a rubber bump strip that went all the way around the car. Anyone know what it might have been?
I also saw a honda the other day, probably late 80's that looked like the johnny cabs in total recal. Not seen one of those before either. Any ideas?

Very maybe and almost definately. ill have to look for a front view on the lancia and rear view on the honda.

Ok, yes on the lancia, no on the honda. It was more like berlingo size, or espace sizr. Lights were vertical on the rear corners.

Sorry for not pre-90s, but I passed one of these on the A46 coming home from work the other day and had never seen one before A Gibbs Aquada, amphibious car with a resemblance to the NB Mazda MX-5 due to sharing the same headlights. Turns out they were made in Nuneaton but I don't think they ever sold any/many but now they're selling some of the 20 or so examples off

No, it was very flat paneled like that civic. I think the lights were only in the bottom half of the corners maybe. I didnt see it long and by the tine id realised it was odd it was gone.

Just looked for more pics, the rear pics id seen were the model after the one posted. It was a civic shuttle, then same as posted.
Both that and the lancia (one I saw was blue) and the civic I'm guessing must be unusual, its not often I see something in the uk roads and not know what it is.

It may have been an smx you know. I seem to remember the lights being slimmer than that civics.

Talking of Hondas rmad recently turned me on to the whole Honda IMA range of hybrids. Didn't know they did one of their nondescript Civics in hybrid form and you can now pick them up for about a grand.
