It was a good day even before I arrived, on the way down I stopped for petrol in Chippenham. While filling up I heard a nice engine note as a MGB RV8 pulled up, immaculate condition with an older couple complete with flying jackets. Had a word with the driver, they were going to a rally in Bradford-on-Avon and he had a chrome bumper MGB GT V8 as well. Further down to road saw lots of a MG's of various types and an early Mustang.
Arrived at Haynes about 9:30, front car park already full and a lot of cars in the overspill (field) car park. Talking to the steward people queue from about 8am!
Anyway, you know it's going to be a good day when one of the first cars you see is a F40...
I do like looking at F40's, the epitome of a race inspired super-car.

What was better was when the F40, Zatoga and a DB9 (or similar) drove off.
It was about this time I met up with
HoTWire (I knew wearing a RRG T-shirt was a good idea) and had a chat.
Parked up the front as well as a big contingent of Lotus 7's (no pics) was a great selection of cars.

The Hot-Rods looked good although if it was mine I might have to buy some yellow paint (yes I now it's not the same as Milner's coupé but it's close).

Pretty sure this is a replica, the badge on the side said LS1 (Chevy powered?) looked good though (as did another Cobra that was behind me on the drive home).

I had a quick walk round the museum, bit disappointing really I last visited about 30 years ago and it's not that much different. I'll probably visit again (annual ticket as I gift aided) for a more concentrated visit.

Thinking about the mythical cars thread, Gary Beltcher's T-bucket with Jaguar V12, I saw this at the Custom Car show in 1979 (god I feel old saying that)
Mixed blessing if you got run into by this car.... (no I don't remember what it was, American I think)
When you've fitted a Meteor (tank version of the Merlin) engine to a lorry chassis you want to make sure you have the best possible instruments fitted

I was playing with a wide angle zoom (16-35 on a FF body if anybody is interested)
MGB's showing off their V8's, they did sound good.
This sounded good as well.
All in all a good morning out, nice drive with the top down proving that the MX-5 (probably the tattiest car on the field) is reliable and good fun and will cruise at a good speed (I made a wrong turn on the way down and had to make up time) and great to meet the originator of RR.
The only silliness I saw was 3 people sliding around when leaving the field, unfortunately they were all driving MX-5s
