Hello all... I don't know how this has happened but an Allegro may be coming my way!!! I just wondered what alloy wheels would fit and look suitable...?! All I can think of are the Equipe alloy wheels that are very rare or some MG Metro pepperpots (will these fit/work?!) which are probably just as rare also!!! So, what suggestions do you fine people of this parish have?! Below is an example of the Equipe alloy wheels...

Allegros are 4x114.3 pdc like mgb's maxi's, and a whole host of J goodness. I tried to get some wide minilights on a maxi years back but the arches are too narrow, Allegros arches are huge. 4x114.3 J goodness is required methinks.

Sounds like I have quite a bit of scope then?!
I wanted to try and fill the arches with something in keeping with the period which is why I thought the Equipe (not sure who made those?!) or MG Metro wheels (Wolfrace Sonic's I think?!) might suit but if anything looks killer I will entertain it of course!!!

I'm afraid I can't help with suggestions for the wheels but I did want to comment on the model. I'd totally forgotten about the Equipe version, HowManyLeft says there are 9 left in the UK, only 3 of those on the road so you'll probably never come across another one in your lifetime. I think that the rarity value is unlikely to translate into significant additional value as it was a reasonably damp squib in terms of performance and sales when it was released.
A worthwhile project but I can see there's an awful lot of work there!

Just a humble DeLuxe (equiped with less than nothing!) is the one on my radar!

Your main issue is the offset. Most BL cars of that era use very inset wheels.

Just a humble DeLuxe (equiped with less than nothing!) is the one on my radar! My fault for not having read your original post thoroughly, sorry! At least it's probably not as rotten as the Equipe in the photos and 'basic' means less to go wrong. The distinctive Equipe turbine alloys were, (like most else on the Allegro), not well made, they were 'porous' and the finish went flat very quickly. I think the wheels on this well-known Allegro Rally car are Ultralites? (more commonly mis-spelled as Ultralight). You'll probably recognise them as being the style often fitted to the Mini Cooper; 250 Austin Allegro 1750 Sport (Prototype) *(1971) by Robert Knight, on Flickr

To have the correct offset you could fit Austin Ambassader 14in wheels . Probably as rare a equipe alloys, look like this on a maxi. Alloys on the blue one, steels on the sandglow one. The eclat wheels is another good shout, I'm sure they are near enough the same fitting inc offset as mgb wheels, and ive seen mgb rostyles on a maxi so they will fit fine. ive also seen nissan Bluebird wheels on a maxi so they might be a good place to look BL Cars of this age do tend to have very inset wheels, so you could always go mental and fit megadish driftz yo.

Some great suggestions...
Would early Metro alloy wheels fit?! I will scrub that thought if not!!!
I would love to see what 'ST' options were available for the Allegro if any!

Winner! As said Offset may be a problem with this. If they fit on a princess (they does) I'm sure as plop they will fit no problem to an allegro. Infact, I'm pretty sure this allegro is wearing more normal offset wheels. I don't know the width or offset of these, but i always thought they looked great on this.

If you wanted to go as big as 15" Volvo S40/Mitsubishi Charisma turned out to be 4x114.3 (to my dismay) & fwd offset so may offer some cheap options I thought could look appropriate. Also... 90- 4-stud Accord, Rover 800 & 600..
