Thought i would share this, i placed an ad on carandclassic online week ago, i received a reply via email, along with a returning email address attached. The punctuation and English was not the best (neither is mine, but far better than what i received). It's been quite sometime since i have received the spoof email, but it seems some people are still trying their luck, i pressed on and sent photo's of the items, again, i received an agreement almost straight away with an excuse of, 'i am working abroad, and so will have one of my assistants come and collect, i will pay you with trust between us' (At this point i was laughing!) anyway, not to drag on too long, just be aware of the following email address, don't give your account details, zip code, etc etc or accept more than they offer (to cover your expenses) just don't do it! autocolemanchris@gmail.com IGNORE THIS EMAIL.

Thing is, I often wonder how these scams actually work. They send you the money, someone collects the car... There's no harm in someone having your bank account number and sort code, you can't do anything with it. How did they want to pay you?
On the other side of this I was working offshore, sent a deposit for a car and they decided to keep the deposit and run off with it. Swings n roundabouts.

somehow, they put the £ into your account, and have the power, strength and cunning to take it back after your parts have been taken? I am waiting on the King of some unknown island to offer me gold and pound notes for a ride on his camel!

With a bank transfer, once it's in there, it's in there. It doesn't come out again without your authorisation... That's the bit that confuses me. I WAY prefer bank transfers to anything else (pound notes included) for that reason.

Hi, The money is paid to you from a hacked account, so then the bank takes the money back because it's a fraudulent transaction.

They can take it out, don't trust bank transfers. No better than PayPal for chargebacks.
I would go to the bank with the person making the transaction in person and do a transfer that way if bank transfers were to be used.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

I WAY prefer bank transfers to anything else (pound notes included) for that reason. Bank transfers can be reversed by the payee by simply stating paid in error as its not a payment for goods or services its not questioned.

One of the latest ones I have heard was from a girl who was training at work she was attempting to sell a sofa for £200 and a seller contacted her to say I want to buy it but I am out of the country but if I send the money now can you keep a hold of it. then saying whoops I have accidently sent you £300 silly me , would you mind refunding the £100 difference back to me.
the poor girl at work thankfully showed us the emails before she did anything as she was unsure.
but around three hours after foiling the first mastermind attempt to rip her off she received another email stating the same but this time " I am disabled and wheelchair bound and don't know when I can collect if I send the money now can you keep a hold of it for me.
