I did once watch 2 men tow a broken motor bike, rope onto cars bumper and then tied around the waist of the bike rider.
Yes, I did wet myself laughing while I watched the rider being pulled off the bike, the bike then falling over and the rider dragged (in leathers, so little damage) down the road!

Could it be a loose battery cable? No, all leads are tight and reasonably clean, including alternator conns Years ago I was with my Dad when he bought a motorbike for parts, took the front wheel and mudguard off, dropped the front forks in the car boot, roped it in and towed it home. I was, and still am, impressed by this

Maybe a silly question but does he not have any breakdown cover?

Chuck a spare battery in the passenger seat with jump leads through the window onto the battery on the car then drive it home!

Should have done it the way I did it, when I was 16 my Kawasaki ar50 died at 11pm one evening, my dad came to rescue me in my Orion 1.6i ghia with a selection of tools, there was nothing we could do to get the bloody thing going as the coil had gone, so I got the bright idea of winding the drivers front and rear window down so I could put my arm around the b pillar and hold on for dear life, it mustve looked hilarious going down the road, I got home nice and safe

I loved the thing, I rebuilt it after it got stolen and wrecked, got rid of it for an rd125LC but regretted letting the ar50 go, I'd love another
