So I didn't think I'd be selling it this so soon, but here it is.
1983 (Y) Driver model
1300cc 4-speed, with a fast road cam, weber carb with manual choke. It's not the quickest thing in the world but it loves to rev!
115,500 miles
Mars red
Mot until April 2018
The car was off the road for a number of years, until the previous owner bought it last year, recommissioned it and put it through an Mot. The only advisory was for age cracking on the rear tyres. I have since bought new rear tyres and will have them fitted before the sale. Ive also since given it a service and a well needed clean/polish.
As you can see from the photos it's in very good condition. The paintwork is not perfect, but considering the age and the fact that I'm pretty sure it's all original, it really is decent. It's only been given a quick hand polish, so with a good machine polish/detail it will bring it up to almost new. The car is completely solid, there is very, very little rust. The only bits to mention are behind one of the rear arch spats, a bit behind the rear number plate, and on the bottom of the spare wheel well. These are purely cosmetic, all of the arches are solid, along with all of the usual rusting spots on these.
The car starts, drives and stops as it should. If it's left for a few days without starting, it can be slightly hesitant to start (runs for a second then cuts out). But after you start it a few times it's spot on. If you're used to driving modern cars then obviously the brakes aren't going to feel brilliant, but they stop you and that's the main thing. The gear synchros are all good and every gear is easy to engage.
There are a few spares that come with the car if you want them - Gti drivers seat, front and rear bumpers, quad lamp grill (and lamps), spare glass and seals for all of the windows. I do have all four Turantula wheels, I just swapped the spare steel on as the age cracking was really bad on one tyre.
Price wise, I am after £4000 £3,700. I think this is a fair price having looked at what's for sale. I'm not open to any swaps.
The car is located just outside of Basingstoke.
