I did what I usually do this time of year, head off to Shelsley Walsh to see how the grounds are, refamiliarise myself with it all and work out changes we might need to make to The Gathering this year. Co-incidentally it is usually the weekend of Shelsley Walsh's big meet for their Classic Nostalgia event, I guess it is their take on Goodwood Revival, which seems to be de rigueur for venues now days.
Well the first obvious change at the venue was the bloody great big fence going through the middle of what is our show field. For Shelsley's events it has been used to divide up the car park area into a kind of members/clubs/prepaid bit away from everyone else. For The Gathering I think it will just operate as a stand back for the first row of cars (although it will be annoying to go around when traversing the field). In the club area on the Saturday were a few cars (it looked to be busier on the Sunday)

Making my way down to the paddock to see what they had on offer this year and it was a pretty interesting range of visitors to Shelsley, it seemed there was a lot from Scotland, so I guess if you visit Doune you may have seen a bunch of these before, but most were new to me.
Particularly enjoying the slices of Scandinavian goodness

And there was some other meaty Ford machinery in the paddock too

They had a big display dedicated to Malcolm Campbell and his land speed record vehicles, Lorne Jacobs' Napier was the star for me (even if we were trying to get him for The Gathering and he ended up doing this event instead :/ ).

The repair work was being conducted with a hammer when I went past

Will leave that there for now, got more to add later from the rally display and Strastone had a couple of cool cars in their courtyard.
