Hi guys, i'm sure a few will already know this car as it's occasionally popped up for sale in numerous places over previous years.
Not entirely sure I really want rid, but up for sale is my 1983 Mazda RX7. I bought this off a pleasant chap just south of Oxford at the start of the year, as I'd missed out on it a year prior when it was up for sale by the bloke that he bought it off. I happened to have the cash at the time and assumed it was fate, but realistically with other projects taking priority, it's going to be quite a long while before I get round to doing what I want to do with it. I've no doubt i'll kick myself for not seeing that through, especially considering this will have been through 3 owners with nothing being done to it, but I thought I may as well see if there's any interest.
So the car's in alright shape, very solid in all the right places with a couple bubbles here and there. The engine and gearbox are not in the car currently; the lump was removed by the previous owner as it had developed a misfire. It's got a welded diff in it, which looks like it hasn't had much use since re-assembly as the excess around the flanges is still relatively clean. The mileage is about 58k off the top of my head. All the interior is in the car and assembled. The windscreen's got a bit of a crack at the bottom of the passenger side corner. Logbook is present.
I literally took delivery of the car, tucked it into storage space, put the engine in the garage, and haven't touched it since. All the bits are there, it just need's deciding on what to do with it. My plan was to tear down the engine, depending on the diagnosis either rebuild that or put a small block chevy in it appears to be a relatively common swap (at least on the other side of the pond), and then use it on circuit. I think if you were to do something similar, it wouldn't be a massive amount of work. If you wanted to make it a mint show car, that would be quite a lot of work.
I'm asking £1300, and i'm reasonably firm on that. It's what I paid, and there was quite the queue of people behind me that also wanted it, including one bloke that managed to publicly humiliate himself after throwing a strop because he hadn't got there first. Coupling that with the fact that I'm not 100% on either wanting/needing to get rid of it, I think that's fair.
Car's located in Reading area, any question's please don't hesitate on dropping me a PM.
Cheers!
