I started this thread forum.retro-rides.org/thread/198217/throttle-stuck-mk3-golf-aazA few weeks ago now and have still not been able to get it anywhere to have it looked at. Also not wanting to get ripped by local gum drying type mechanics. Just wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of somebody that could come and take a look to diagnose the problem at least or fix it?

I know the best place to get it fixed, Autohaus Dolby, but you'd have to get it transported to Sheffield

Do you know Nath off lowdown? Yeah mate it's just getting it to him. I've been trying to borrow a tow arm or A frame to get it to a mate but really struggled. It won't go on a normal flat bed!!

So to clarify... It stuck on once and now doesn't or it still runs away when you start it?

I'm a bit miffed at this thread. I know we are all different and have abilities that reflect that. I was in a similar boat when I was an apprentice and had very little money to spare when car problems arose. This prompted me to fix things myself, and this was in a time when the Internet wasn't to hand. I would be pulling what hair I had left out if my car was off the road for 6 weeks. Have a go and sort it,the sense of achievement will be worth it.

To say I was a little miffed was an understatement which in the end cost me a hell of a lot more money too. Not that it's anything to do with you.

As you say we're all different and I'm only replying to your reply on my thread needing help in said World Wide Web. Shal we get into my struggle with anxiety and depression which stops me doing stuff as I constantly question myself whatever I do???

Worth having a go though bud, you can't make it any more undriveable. If you manage to pull it off, wait till it's quiet and go for a spin on your own, it will help your anxiety/depression no end, I know as I suffer with it myself.

I appreciate self doubt and a lack of spannering skills BUT..... First thing to do is to type in stuff like ' fuel pump change VW Golf MK...' or whatever onto youtube. There is a humungeous amount of 'how to' videos on there and there will probably be a blow by blow demo there on how to repair the fault you have. I rebuilt my headlight motors on my Firebird off of somebody posting a how to, bearing in mind i had not a sodding clue how to dismantle them let alone effect a repair which cost nothing!! In addition, maybe somebody on a model specific forum could photograph the parts that need repair/ removal and even arrow and talk you through the process? I timed up my Excel by finding pictures kindly put up on the www by somebody who knew that, one day, a thick curse word like me would need holding by the hand...... People will help you, the answers are out there, give it a good hard look and have a bash. There are no geniuses only enthusiasts.
