Just daydreaming really, but what do you think the chances are of fitting alternative bodys to a 7 style kit?
Anything like that available?
Any low swoopy 50's/60's style 2 seater kit car bodys that may work?
Maybe even try and get it all under a pop, or an austin 7?
Idle thoughts really.
I know anythings possible but within reason, but think its doable in any sensible way?

Caterham actually did just that with the 21 iirc so its do-able. i've seen a few retro styled roadsters on ebay which may fit the bill .' sammio spyder' springs to mind as one.

Sammio without a doubt, neat Herald/Spit body swap.
I've always thought about a 30's body on a 7 type chassis.

Sammio without a doubt, neat Herald/Spit body swap. I've always thought about a 30's body on a 7 type chassis. A 30,a body would make sense as the origin of 7 type cars stems from ford running gear. The 7 kits are basically a little space frame chassis. Doesnt seem too much of a stretch to make it work. Then considering alot of small sports cars of the 50's were based on pre war chassis that doesnt seem impossible either. Old ford sidevalve special body may be doable? I have a 7 kit car coming my way. Althought modifying it would probably be frowned upon, my mind cant help wondering. if the engine wasnt in the wrong place id try and slap some old can am style body on it.

If I had this idea rattling around in my head, id be going in this direction. In fact, id just stop thinking and copy it.

I hadn't even considered running the body that low. O was thinking stock ish body and big seating and control mods. That works quite well buy id alter the grill situation and maybe do different fenders.
Cool though. do you know for sure what the chassis is?
I guess I should get some wheelbase and track measurememts but then it starts getting a bit real.

I've got the remains of an early GT6 and was going to rebuild it standard but it would cost a lot to do nicely. I got thinking about using an MX5 as a base but a westfield or similar might be a better size.I like the car above though.

Ive no idea what the mx5 chassis is like.
Only reason thos idea is in my mind is the car is mine, its free, its quite fast, it handles great. I'm just not a big fan of the look.
I wouldnt be looking at doing anything 'properly'. Just a bare bones frame to bolt the body to the chassis. I don't care if you can see road when you open the door or anything like that. I would just mount a body to it as simply as possible in any way that wont blow off?.
Added bonus with this one is its registered as a new 2015 car so no 2 cars cut up legality issues (as long as I don't cut up the chassis). Even if I do mod heavily its already just passed one SVA or whatever it was, so another shouldnt be too bad as alot of issues are already sorted.

No, unfortunately otherwise I would probably have enough money to actually get on with it ! The MX5 doesn't have much of a chassis it's more of a link section joining the front and rear subframes. I was thinking about re-skinning an MX5 with the GT6 parts but have never really looked at the dimensions. I know the track width is too big though so it would mean big arches or lost of clever narrowing probably.

The gearbox fellas I mentioned have a lovely mk1 gt6 that I really want. Would be for sale too but nowhere to put it. Weldings done but its still at pre primer stage. I would love a mk1 gt6!!
