I'm reluctantly putting my Ghia up for sale – reason being that I'm aiming to buy a 911 and need to free up funds for that potential endeavour. I've owned the car for 18 months and it has been hugely enjoyable to own and drive in that time, but needs must.
Car is a 1971 ex-US model that came into the UK in 2001. There are currently 9750 miles on the odometer, but it has gone around the clock once. It is generally solid with just a few small areas of chipped paint and the beginnings of rust. The worst affected area is on the nearside quarter panel below the window as it blends into the forward curve of the rear wing.
The engine is the original AE code 1600 and is in good mechanical order. The gearbox was reconditioned in November 2013 by Bughaus in Nottingham at the cost of £900. The work also included a new input shaft bearing, differential seal, complete clutch assembly, flywheel oil seal, clutch cable conduit and heater cables. Earlier this year I drove the car to Osnabruck to take it back to the factory and it didn't miss a beat over the course of the 800-mile round trip. In readiness for that adventure I replaced the brake discs, wheel bearings and pads and the car now stops smartly and pulls up nicely in a straight line. I changed the oil recently, so the car is basically ready to be used and enjoyed this summer. It has an MoT until December 8, 2017.
I have a fair amount of history/invoices to go with the car and every UK MoT certificate dating back to when it was imported in 2001.
It isn't in perfect condition by any means, but to my mind is nicely 'worn in' and wears its age and experience well, while you don't have to worry too much about leaving it in a car park etc.
The car is based with me in Peterborough and viewings are very much welcome. I'm looking for OIRO £8750.
I can be contacted by PM on here or ideally by email at mg261285AThotmail.com
