Sweeping generalisation coming up so apologies in advance but I find the majority of road rage / tailgating encounters I’ve had over the years have been with Vauxhall owners. I suspect this is veering outside the bounds of Retrorides topic discussion, but I couldn't resist responding... I haven't had the same experience as you with Vauxhall drivers in general, but I have found that drivers of Vauxhall Zafiras' (apologies if anyone here has one) are generally utterly clueless idiots. To put that more accurately, any time I have seen anyone driving really stupidly, or pulling a really pig-ignorant manoeuvre on the roads, in traffic, on motorways etc, the culprit has been a Zafira more often than it has been anything else. It got to the point where I found myself naturally driving to avoid being anywhere near a Zafira if I could help it. I could never figure out what it was. It wasn't some kind of performance aggression... they were never road racers... it was more a sort of happy obliviousness that almost comes across as self-entitlement. And I could never figure out why ownership of a Zafira made anyone feel any sense of entitlement. So I always concluded it was more that Zafiras' appealed to really stupid people who just can't drive and have no sense at all of road use, distance, danger, manoeuvring etc. For the last few years Zafiras have stopped triggering my nervous rash, and for the last few years I've noticed that modern Kia drivers have taken over from Zafira drivers, but they are also more arrogant with it. I would be willing to put money on it that there is a strong statistical correlation between ex-Zafira owners and newer Kia owners.

Sweeping generalisation coming up so apologies in advance but I find the majority of road rage / tailgating encounters I’ve had over the years have been with Vauxhall owners. It’s the story of the nova boy growing up. They “all” seem to be angry drivers so throw the performance bit into the mix and I reckon most got crashed and written off when they were cheap enough to buy on the credit-happy days in the 90s. Add to that the rust-factor and the previously mentioned red-top conversions of novas and corsas and before you know it you’re looking at a handful left that are owned by long term owners who will restore them one day and those that you do see out and about. Just a quick point, the Manta is not a Vauxhall so your story (which i have no problem with) is not relevant to this topic Yes there was a cavalier version of it but that was a re-badged Opel Manta, and yes they were sister brands as they were both owned by GM at that point. BUT the Manta was an OPEL design that they were still building rather than any of the later Vauxhall cars that were just badged Opel on the continent.

I still love winding sutty up by telling him his is a vauxhall when he tells me about the cart springs on the back of my capri, i will say the manta folks i have met and had a laugh with are great guys and girls not the angry vauxhall owners mentioned previously.

It got shunted at a juncture by a wayward Vauxhall Segue.

We are... it's just that we're all in hiding! Another year and I'm hoping to have finished my mongrel of a Manta B - Fitting a 1UZ engine on individual throttle bodies with a hybridised Nissan Skyline R32 GTR/350Z IRS rear end. Should be lively!

That black one @hotwire posted is a prime example of the weird places these rot out. It otherwise looks like a great example.
